I froze,

He was looking for me.

He frantically scanned the entire room before his eyes found me, cuddled up against the wall. His face flooded with relief. He got off the bed and slowly walked around the bed, gently making his way towards me.

My entire body began to shake. He was tall, so so impossibly tall. I doubted I would even reach his chest. But here, as I was lying on the floor he seemed taller than anything I had ever seen in my life. My breathing became harsh and quick as I tried to push back further into the wall

As if he noticed my discomfort, he paused his footsteps, a look of confusion and sadness on his face. A smell filled my nose, I couldn't get enough of it. I had no idea what that smell was, all I knew was that it was the greatest thing I had ever smelt. The man took my sudden calmness as a signal and took a few more steps forward, and suddenly I was back in the position I was before, hyperventilating so hard that I couldn't even breath. My entire body shaking and pressed against the wall. He stopped again,

"Please mate, I won't hurt you." He mewled, the pain was evident. His words sent a shiver down my spine, like warm honey. Then it occurred to me, mate?

I took a breath, looking away from him so I could speak properly, "What did you call me?" It still came out as barely a whisper, but I knew he could hear it. The wolves heard everything.

He kept walking forward until he was right in front of me, couching down so he was at my level, "You're my mate, I haven't really thought of anything to call you yet."

I faced my head into the wall, "Please don't call me that,"

"Not call you what, mate?" He even looked like a dog, hi head tilting to the side as he asked.

I couldn't reply, I opened my mouth to say 'Mate' as a reply, but I couldn't. It just wouldn't come out. He waited, maybe I was going crazy but it even looked as if his ears had perked up while waiting for a reply.

"It's alright Elora," He quipped, "I'll find something else to call you, after all, mate is a very common nickname within our community. I'll find you something unique, don't worry." He gave me a toothy grin.

I tried to center myself, calm my breathing and return to normal but it didn't work. It only got worse. Finally, he seemed to understand that I was uncomfortable and took a step back, his lips forming into an adorable pout.

"I've mind linked the doctor, can you get back up on the bed for him to inspect you, or would you like me to pick you up and carry you there?" He asked kindly, his voice remaining soft.

Mind Link. Another privilege of being a wolf. It was similar to mind reading, but the wolf was able to control if they could be spoken to through the mind link.

I pulled myself up, heavily relying on the machine that connected to the IV. The metal was cold against my hand, yet it was the only thing that was sturdy. I straightened my back, trying to seem confident but probably failing. He was standing in front of me, only then did I realize just how tall he was. Wolves were usually taller and stronger than the humans, but he was taller than any wolf I had ever seen. I would be lucky to reach his chest at the very least. I didn't want to look up at his eyes, I didn't want to make eye contact. I push from this man and I would be dead, the muscles bulging from his shirt. Though he was claiming that I was his mate, he wouldn't do anything to put me in danger.

I began walking forward, moving around him as too avoid contact. My head stayed down, my gaze locked on the floor. A warm hand pressed into my back, I flinched and took a few hurried steps forward until I felt the hand slip away. I let out a sigh before pushing the machine back in its original place and climbed up onto the bed. The wolf was still standing back where I had left him. I didn't look at his face.
