She fought against the last remaining drops of the wolfsbane and allowed me to tap into her power. I allowed my canines to elongate and my nails to form into claws. With my pitch black eyes, I saw everything perfectly.
With incredible speed even for me, I lunged at him once again. He didn't even have time to let his own wolf come to the surface before I was already right in front of him. With one hand I grabbed his neck and squeezed.
He struggled for air against my tight hold, but my wolf's strength was too much. Just as I felt his wolf surfacing I jammed my other hand into his chest. His eyes widened one last time before I pulled out his most important organ. His heart. Surprisingly he actually possessed one.
Blood splashed over our bodies, coating my front in the warm liquid. However, I hardly even noticed it. I was too focused on the man still in my hold.
I watched as the light ran out of his eyes before I tossed him to the ground like the trash he was. Next followed his stone-cold heart, which landed right next to his head. What a lovely sight.
I turned around and I came face to face with a very pale Maggie. She looked like she was fighting hard not to throw up. It was an unexpected reaction as she was a nurse after all.
The warrior who had held her hostage was lying in a useless heap on the ground. While he was definitely knocked out, I could still hear his slow heartbeat. I guessed Maggie just didn't have it in her to kill another living creature.
Without giving her time to recover, I forced her to make our way back. The night was not yet over. While walking, I mind-linked the entire pack, saying we would soon be under attack. Everyone needed to gather at the pack house where we would deal with the threat as one.
The pack house was already ablaze with life once the two of us reached it. I expected most of the pack members to be panicking in fear, just like during the attack on Black Moon. Yet as we entered the house, everyone seemed composed. Fear lurked in many eyes, but all of them were prepared to follow any kind of order.
The instant I stepped inside the house Blake enveloped me in a tight hug. Even with every pair of eyes on us he didn't mind showing affection. It was strange, yet still comforting at the same time.
"Are you hurt? Where have you been and why in the name of the Goddess happened to you?" He said immediately after our hug ended as his eyes traveled down my blood-covered body.
"It's okay. The blood isn't mine." I reassured him before I lunged into a quick explanation of the night's events. I skipped over most details, rather focusing on the information about the upcoming attack and Ulric's involvement.
"So he's dead? I'm sorry." He said as I explained that I had just killed my own biological father.
"Don't be. I didn't even hesitate. He got what he deserved." And I truly meant what I said.
Blake took a hold of my hand as he turned to face the rest of our pack. "Okay, listen up everyone. You heard your Luna. We are under attack. Warriors prepare to defend our pack. The children, non-warriors and elderly go to the safe house. You know the procedure."
Everyone nodded as one, and they instantly began to leave for their posts. They all knew what their job was.
I was just about to ask where Blake needed me to fight when Hunter walked up to us.
"I'll fight with you, but I have a favor to ask. The ones attacking are my pack and I know that not all of them are guilty. They had no other choice but to follow Snider. I ask you and your warriors to spare their lives. I won't ask you to put your warriors in danger to save mine, but I ask you to let mine live."
