chapter 30: a grinning idiot

Joohyun followed his instructions and took her seat at the sofa. For a while, it was quiet in the office.

"Boss," Joohyun turned around to glance at Jungkook. "Since I'm not doing anything, do you want me to go make you a cup of coffee?"

"No, it's fine," Jungkook smiled. "I have one right here."

"Oh," Joohyun pursed her lips. "Okay."

"Just make yourself comfortable, Joohyun-ssi," Jungkook laughed as he flipped through the files. "We've known each other for a while now, you don't need to be uncomfortable around me."

"I'm not," Joohyun chuckled. "I just find it weird to be just sitting in my boss' office, doing nothing."

"Oh, I see," Jungkook pursed his lips, his eyes darting around suspiciously before glancing up at Joohyun. "By the way, did you see the guy who left my office a while ago?"

"No, I didn't-" Joohyun looked a little confused, but she realised who Jungkook was talking about all of a sudden and her eyes lit up. "Oh- Taehyung-ssi?"

"Ah, I see you've met him," Jungkook acted. "How did you get to know him?"

"Oh, um-" Jieun hesitated. "Just saw him around the office, I guess. How is he? I was surprised to see him leave your office today."

"Oh!" Jungkook laughed. "He did amazingly at the auditions and interviews, you see. So I had to call him in to take a closer look."

"Ah," Joohyun grinned knowingly. "Kim bujang-nim must have told you about him, huh."

"Huh?"

"Kim bujang-nim," Joohyun smiled innocently. "The new director in charge of the auditions? I haven't seen in him in person, but apparently Taehyung-ssi says he's good-looking, tall and really kind."

"He really told you that?" Jungkook tried not to laugh. "Kim Taehyung told you that Kim bujang-nim was good-looking, tall and kind? Really?"

"Why?" Joohyun chuckled. "Is he wrong?"

"No, not at all," Jungkook chuckled softly. "I mean, yeah, he's not lying at all, for sure. So- what do you think of him?"

"Kim bujang-nim?" Joohyun raised her eyebrows.

"Yeah-" Jungkook stopped himself. "I mean, no- not Kim bujang-nim. I mean Kim Taehyung-ssi, how is he?"

"Taehyung-ssi?" Joohyun pursed her lips. "I think he's really a good find, Boss. You should really consider him carefully for the secret role?"

Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows. "Secret role?"

"Oop-" Joohyun's hand flew to her mouth, her eyes widening. "I wasn't supposed to know. Ignore what I said. I just wanted to say I think with his looks and personality, he has a lot of potential in the entertainment industry, be it with acting, modelling or whatever he does."

"Oh, I wasn't asking about that though," Jungkook bit his lower lip. "Actually, I was asking about what you thought of him... as a person."

Joohyun's eyes widened in surprise.

"What?!" Joohyun almost fell off her bed. "Jimin-ssi is your what?!"

"My costar, mmhmm," Jieun sighed as she buried her face deep into her pillow.
