Maybe I should just pretend nothing happened. Not that that would be easy with that reminder on Derik's neck.

But if I keep worrying about this I might have a panic attack.

Derik carefully wrapped an arm around my waist guiding me to the dining room. I sunk into his hold immediately. Just standing next to him makes me feel better. He's warm and considerate and so much more.

Now I don't actually want to leave.

But it's not like he'll be any different in the dining room. I'll just also get breakfast. Surprisingly when we got down to the dining room Rosie was sitting at the counter.

She doesn't come out of her room often without me or Blake so I gawked for a little. She stopped eating her toast mid bite and laughed hysterically.

"Y-you le-let her m-mark you-u!" Rosie barked out between laughs.

"I didn't know what she was doing," He mumbled.

Red faced I lead him to the table and told the closest slave I what I wanted for breakfast. Derik mumbled the same and we sat uncomfortably while Rosie looked amused.

It was embarrassing enough without someone who knows exactly what it means noticing.

Bang!

The door to dining room slammed so hard it ricocheted and would have hit Blake if not for Adam catching it.

"We have an emergency!" Adam yelled while Blake looked frantic.

"What's wrong?" I was on my feet in an instant.

This is a perfect distraction.

"One of the hospitals is under attack. The staff are doing the best to keep them off but there are over ten vampires and one witch. We need your help," Blake explained practically pleading.

I gave a curt nod turning into Vivian and walking out with Derik on my heels.

Adam picked Blake up so we could all rush to Derik's car at vampire speed. Adam and Blake sat in the back and Derik drove like his life depended it.

It's more than possible someone's life depends on it, just not his.

"Which hospital is it?" I ordered.

"The first one, the one with Doctor Mia." Blake answered quickly.

"Mia, we're on our way. Is the hospital in lock down?" I asked into the phone.

"Yes, the patient rooms are secure but the hallways are flooded and the staff are having trouble keeping the patients calm. No one is harmed yet but we can't let anyone out until the situation is under control."

"We'll be there soon." I hung up.

Fidgeting in place I waited impatiently for the car to get there.

Not that we could be going much faster. You had to really push a car for it to be faster than me but I could tell I wouldn't be able to keep up if I got out.

Derik slammed on the breaks. Adam barely managed to keep Blake in place but I couldn't focus on her.

The clinics should all be able to keep everyone safe but there's no telling what's happening inside the walls. The pets are probably panicking and the staff might be stuck with hostile vampires.

I got out and growled loudly drawing attention with Derik and Adam right behind me. Thankfully Blake was smart enough to stay in place because worrying about her would be a huge distraction.
