"Wow, that's quite a... something,"

"What do you think?"

"Well, could it just be a nightmare, not a vision?"

"But it was so vivid, I was thinking maybe the streams of light were quintessence, and the dark ones were Tenebris, and it was a vision of the future and Kairos is going to become infected,"

"Gen, do you think maybe that's just your subconscious fear?"

"Well, I mean, I guess so? But what if it's more than that?"

"Well, Kairos was able to have a vision because he's an Altean Alchemist right? And he's a part of the quintessence field, you're not, so how could a vision from Tenebris get to you? Besides if it were him, he'd probably want to scare you, just like a normal nightmare would,"

He was right. Of course, he was he's my genius little brother.

"Yeah," I said with a sigh. It still bothered me, but Levi was right, "Thanks Levi,"

"I'm always here for you sis,"

"I know, and me too. How are things going there?"

"Really well, we're doing a lot of work for this planet called Kentawn right now, I won't bore you with the details, but Matt's been trusting me with more stuff, and I'm learning a lot,"

"That's great buddy, I'm so proud of you," I said.

"Thanks, but I'll have to get off here soon, we're a bit overrun here, can I call you back another time?"

"Sure, how's 16 Quin tomorrow?"

"I'm busy then, can we do 18 Quin?"

"Uhhh, I think so yeah, if not I'll message you,"

"Ok, I'll talk to you then,"

"Ok, I love you, buddy,"

"You too,"

I ended the call and sat back down on my bed with a sigh.

It was getting pretty late at this point, and I needed to go to bed, and as far as I know, the rest of the castle is asleep.

But, despite my best efforts, I couldn't fall asleep. My feet were already moving before my mind made itself up on where I was going.

I stopped in the doorway to the room. The view was gorgeous and I could easily get lost in looking at the stars, but there was someone else in the room and crying.

They dim castle light was just enough for me to see Kairos's silver-white hair.

I didn't say anything, so as quietly as I could I walked over to the couch, and sat down.

Kairos looked up, "Gen,"

He furiously wiped the wetness from his face.

"Listen, Kairos, I don't blame you for what happened,"

"I shot you," he said, his hand moving to touch the scar on my shoulder but halting halfway, falling back into his lap.

"It was an accident Kai, I know you didn't mean it,"

"You were shot and knocked out because I was careless, because I'm not training hard enough. If I were a better archer you wouldn't have been hurt. I don't deserve to be the black paladin, I'm a terrible leader,"

"Kairos, I say this with love, but this isn't about you, it was an accident, and I'm not angry with you so you shouldn't be angry with yourself,"

"I have to protect you, but I hurt you, I'm trying to heed the warning from Tenebris and keep you safe,"

I took a breath, trying to formulate my words "The only way we're gonna beat this is together, the burden of me and the team isn't on your shoulders alone, we watch out for each other,"

I took his hand to reassure him, but I also wanted to bring up the other night.

"If we hadn't been keeping our distance from each other we may have worked as a team better and you wouldn't have gotten hurt," he said, his thumb gliding back of forth across one of my knuckles.

"We need to communicate better with each other," I said, watching our hands.

"I'm afraid of... I don't know, there's just so much in my head and it's at a constant buzz and I've asked my dad for advice about how to figure out how I feel... and I still just, don't know,"

"I talked to Keith too," I said, our eyes meeting, "We don't know how things are going to end with Tenebris, and I don't want to waste time that we could spend together,"

His free hand met my cheek and his lips met mine.

I kissed him back and we were tangled up in each other for as long as the air in our lungs dared and we pulled apart.

"I don't want to waste anything with you,"

We sat there for an indiscernible amount of time looking at the stars, until I got sleepy and Kairos, ever the gentleman, led to me to room, giving me a kiss goodnight.

As I lay in bed, my mind wandered to think about the vision I had, and then the feeling of being near the real Kairos dispersed it and I was able to sleep.

A/N wow another update? Sorry for the romance but I'm weak
