"I'll see you then," I whispered, letting his hand slip out of mine and his frame fade from my eyes.
As the door slammed shut I sighed, my heart beginning to ache. I knew this would only last a day or two more before he let me come to his office with him.
"I think that he should just say, 'Elora, love of my life, I will not be back at three. Who knows when I'll be back, it's just my mistress gets a little-"
My glare shut him up immediately, "One day you'll come in to early and get yourself killed. And Maddox doesn't have a mistress."
Belial shrugged, "That wolf couldn't kill me if he tried. And if he doesn't have a mistress, then why aren't you allowed to attend his meetings and sit in his office like you usually do?"
His golden eyes stayed fixed on me, "Because he's in one of his moods,"
Belial scoffed, "No he's not, Alpha... what was his name? Loki or something, which is a considerably stupid name and his mate and daughter are in the castle, working through some of his packs financials or whatever."
I raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure the Alpha's name is Loki?"
"Nah, but it's something like that and just as equally stupid."
A name like Loki? I had familiarised with every Alpha of the Northern Continent in my spare time. Perhaps he meant Alpha Liam? I scanned through the names in my mind. I came to Alpha Odin and paused.
"Did you mean Alpha Odin?" I asked slowly,
He clicked his fingers, "That's it! See I told you it's just as stupid as the name Loki."
Alpha Odin's daughter was Natalia. The same girl who had threatened my life.
"I trust Maddox, maybe you should too," I winced, the seed of doubt planting itself in my mind.
Bel took a few steps forward, "It's not him I'm worried about, it's her. Besides, him cheating on you doesn't affect me in any way. Anyway, I don't want to talk about your werewolf boyfriend. Tell me, is it true that the people who keep attacking tried to recruit you?"
I looked down, "Perhaps, but I suppose that isn't your business Bel,"
He pouted, "We're friends Lora, come on, just tell me,"
I sighed, narrowing my eyes, "Yeah, I think that has contributed to his mood these past few days."
Belia sat down on the chair that accompanied my desk, placing his arms to rest on the back of the chair as he faced me.
"It's a scary thought," He admitted, "To think that you could have been dragged into something like that."
I paused, "I'm sorry, are you acting... sympathetic and serious?" I teased, watching his face form into a scowl.
"Course not," He scoffed. "I just can't even imagine being part of something like that,"
My face softened, "Me neither. Maddox took care of it before it got too serious, so I wasn't in any danger, it was all a set up to gather information."
"And did you get what you needed?"
I nodded, "Enough, to continue fueling the operation."
"Thats a plus I suppose, I'm surprised you're overbearing boyfriend even let you do something like that." Belial hummed,
"He wasn't happy, but I suggested it and he knew that it needed to be done." I admitted, "But once I ws doing it, it wasn't really that big of a deal."
He shrugged, "Even if you don't think so, it probably was a big deal. I can see why your little boyfriend is so worked up,"
"I've wondered about it." I said, "I wonder if I was part of this organisation, if perhaps I had been in a situation were I couldn't be taken away. What would have happened if they took me, or if before all of this happened, before I met Maddox. What if I had joined out of desperation."
