"My... What was that?" He murmured, and I watched as his gaze went to the floor.

I fell a few steps back, clearing my throat before I bothered to speak. "What was what?"

049 left the seat, being on his feet and staring down at me. He folded his fingers together in front of him. "It felt like— Oh... Something happened, did it?"

Knowing he was talking about the blood all over my hands, I was blunt with my response. "There were two guards who were going to kill us, so I took care of them."

The anomaly stared down at my hands, nothing coming from him. In the silence, it left room for tension, and with tension came worry. I did worry. I worried perhaps if that was a bad idea to say.

Was he going to kill me? What I did was terrible, I know, but I had to do it. I didn't have a choice. My eyes were stuck on his, watching as they finally geared to me.

   "[Name]..."

I swallowed at the instant of his voice. It was low, and oddly somber.

   "Are you alright?"

I gave a few nods, letting my shoulders drop. "I'm fine." I'm not. Am I? I don't even know anymore.

A hand of his pressed itself against the side of one of my shoulders, garnering my attention. "Hm?" I blinked a rapidly, eyes going back to his. They were strangely soothing.

"...Alright." There was a faint sort of recognition in his eyes. The anomaly retracted his gloved hand and began to go towards the door. "Let's be off, then."

I tailed after him, and out into the hallway as well. His pace was slow, each step lingering. Watching as he observed the excess blood everywhere, I kept quiet. His head lifted and angled down the end of the hall, seeing the pools and splatters of it where the body of the guy I indirectly killed was.

The doctor started in that direction, hands now at his sides. "It seems you were quite emotional with eradicating them. Are you sure you're alright?"

"O-Oh, no," I blurted, then paused when I realised I had. I finished my statement slowly. "I didn't do it all by myself."

His head snapped in my direction. "What do you mean?" A fleck of urgency in his voice.

I stared down at the mess. The stench of blood tinged my nose, and it was strong enough to cause my face to scrunch up loosely. The wrinkles and creases only shifted lightly, being the faintest of cringes. "I... There was another SCP that killed one of them. You can't look at its face, or it'll... Just..." My faced screwed further. "Mangle you. I made the last guy look at him, and... Yeah."

049 faced the front of him once more. We were only a few yards from the pool of blood at that point. "Well... Quite the shame I'll never be able to rid of the pestilence that would've no doubt had taken them."

"But..." My nerves were wracked. The crimson painting my hands was beginning to get annoying. "I did good, though, right?"

"Oh, but of course you did! You always do."

I smiled a bit, head lowering in embarrassment over it. Not useless. I'm not useless. I... I've been helpful. He has no reason to kill me.

"But you never responded to my question," he voice came once more.

I looked up to the back of him. "What question?"

"About your current state," he urged on.
