"Is it that boy with the weird hairdo?" She helped you retrieve your sneakers from the shoe cubby as you sat at the front door. You took them from your sister and slipped them on gingerly.
"Nah, it's a girl! She's from my class. Josuke's also in my class, though." You hummed and got up. Patting Tomoyo, you smiled as she pursed her lips. "I'm heading out! I'll be back soon."
As the door closed shut, the girl behind it sighed quietly. "Maybe it's just me, but I have a bad feeling." She glanced at the umbrella holder beside the shoe cubby. "Perhaps it'll rain again."
. . .
The walk to the bus stop was a fairly peaceful one. Neighbours in passing cars took the liberty to greet you. An elderly cop even asked where you were heading at this hour. The sun had begun to set, and you had to explain that you were going to the spring festival.
A couple more run ins before you were on the bus to the park. Villas in the background were reduced to a blur as the hunk of metal rumbled down the road. The bus had a decent amount of people, mayhaps headed to the same destination. Swaying chaotically, the handrails on the ceiling dangled in the air as a couple of teens chatted noisily.
You glanced out a window and watched the scenery. With your backpack on your lap, you could feel Myui squirm a bit. Out of the blue, someone decided to sit beside you. Even though you were in the back. And there were plenty of seats available.
Glancing up at the person, you gasped. "Josuke?!"
The teen had a smug grin as he revelled in your astonishment. Dressed in street wear and hair styled in his usual pompadour, he wrung a hand round his neck. "Fancy meeting you here, (y/n)! Going somewhere?"
"Yeah... I'm checking out the spring festival with Nanami." He cocked his head and you threw in some hand gestures. "You know, Yukihira Nanami from our class?"
He nodded, "Yeah, I know her alright. We were in the same class as freshmen too."
The bus jerked abruptly, startling you as you bumped shoulders with the teen. You glanced up at Josuke, who shrugged it off. Tumbling down the road, the bus made a few more stops before the both of you got off. You realised Josuke was walking beside you and you raised your brows.
"I just so happen to be going to the festival too. I'm meeting Okuyasu and Koichi." He reassured you as the two of you fell in step.
Clutching your backpack's straps, you hummed. "Oh, the guys from the first day of school?" The boy in the denim jacket nodded. He spotted something in his peripheral vision and his eyes rested on your bag.
"Is that Myui?" Your head spun as you glanced at him. Busted. You chuckled dryly.
"Yeah... I invited it to tag along with us." You scratched your chin sheepishly, avoiding Josuke's gaze. Said creature made a muffled 'is that Josuke' and the bag shifted about.
Josuke lifted the flap to peek into the bag and fluffy white ears popped out. He said hello when a familiar voice called out in the distance.
"(y/n)!! Over here!" Both of you spun around to see the girl bounding excitedly. She was practically barrelling at full speed with dust behind her. The common bun atop her head was held up by a bright flower pin, a matching ornament with her flowery dress. Nanami skidded to a halt in front of you and smiled. "Good evening, (y/n)!"
"Good evening, Nana!" You gave her a lidded smile. She giggled before turning to the teen beside you. An exclamation mark hovered above as she cocked her head. "Oh! Josuke? Why's Josuke here? Is he coming with us?"
