"Shinomiya (y/n). I'm a second year student." You added as the bus started to move. He nodded, and the two of you chatted animatedly. The blonde was strikingly compelling, a gentle and charming individual. He truly resembled a prince.

Tachibana had an odd habit of covering his mouth when he laughed, and truthfully it was adorable. The thought made you giggle and he gave you a questioning look.

"You always cover your mouth with your hand when you laugh, Tachibana."

"Please, call me Yukio." He chuckled, cheeks tinted. "And I suppose it's a strange habit of mine."

When you reached your stop, the two of you got off the vehicle together. You wondered why he was so willing to help a total stranger, but you guessed moments like these were welcoming. As the two of you strolled past the villas, he spoke up.

"I just so happen to stay around here too! Do you know the Tachibana residence? It's the one beside the Kira's." Yukio took a sip of his banana milk. He hadn't touched it since he boarded the bus earlier.

You pursed your lips, contemplating. "I dont think so? I moved out quite a while ago and just came back. Are you new to Morioh?"

"No no, I'm a local too!" He rubbed the back of his head, abashed. "Been here since I was just a sapling."

"Pfft, a sapling?" Your smaller form trembled from laughter. "You sound like a country bumpkin!"

Yukio played with his fringe, checking the ends with his fingertips. Holding a few strands together, he replied, "Technically we both are, y'know? *Morioh was originally a remote rural area with paddy and vegetable fields."

"Wait, for realsies?" Your mouth formed an 'o' shape as he hummed acknowledgingly.

"Farmers would have cracked hands and callouses from working day and night. They had to monitor the water levels even when the sun set.

"Then the government from a neighbouring city decided to tap some money into development for Morioh. All thanks to the gradual population rise. So streets were repaired, markets and shops were built... And finally modern houses replaced the fields!"

"Wow," You breathed out, "I didn't know that Morioh was so rundown in the past. I guess I learnt something new today!" The two of you took a turn and you spotted your house in the distance.

Yukio adjusted the bags in his hand. "Mhmm, my aunt told me all this. Her midwife likes to talk about olden Morioh. She's been around since the 1940s, I think?"

Ehh... Why does that sound familiar? Sounds like someone I know... You grimaced at the thought of an aged, wrinkly somebody.

You stopped outside the gate and outstretched your hand. Yukio looked past you and noticed the tall trees looming past the stone slab walls and hedges. Even from outside one could smell the strong scent of apricots.

"Thanks for helping me and walking me home. I really appreciate it," You told him earnestly.

Your blonde senior smiled warmly and passed you your Owson purchases. "It's no problem, (y/n). See you at school tomorrow!"

Nodding, you unlocked the gate and entered your residence. As you shuffled past the flower and fruit bushes surrounding the foot path, Yukio started to walk away. He chuckled to himself just as you shuffled into your home and set down your items on the kitchen table.
