Chapter 6: The Blossoming

Start from the beginning

"Never really paid attention to it," she replied, shrugging. You clicked the button on the vacuum, starting to push the device around the room as it came to life. You looked over at Jasper and saw her jump slightly at the noise, putting her hands to the side of her head. You raised an eyebrow, turning the vacuum off. Jasper opened her eyes, looking at you. "Are you done with that dreadful thing?"

"Uh, no. I've barely started. Do you not like the noise?" Jasper leaned against the island in the kitchen, crossing her arms, avoiding eye contact with you. She had a faint blush on her face.

"No, I do not. It is just—," she paused, cutting herself off. "Never mind." You squealed, and she looked over at you like you were crazy.

"You're scared of the noise! Kind of like a cat...that's so cute!" She stomped to you, leaning over the back of the sofa, her grip tight on the cushions.

"I am a Jasper! The Jasper. W-We are not afraid of anything you pathetic, human!" You giggled at how dark of a scarlet her face was.

"Whatever you say, Captain. But it's okay to be afraid of things." You then turned the vacuum back on, grinning at her devilishly as she jumped again, clamping her hands over her ears for the second time. "Everyone is scared of something," you yelled over the noise, laughing as Jasper gave you a hateful glare.

When you finished vacuuming, you went back upstairs to get your phone, unlocking it and calling Steven. He answered almost immediately. "Hey, (y/n)! What's up?"

"Oh, nothing, Steven. I just got done cleaning the house and I was wondering if I could come to do laundry. I also have some trash for Amethyst."

"Oh, that's fine. Are you sure it's okay for you to come?" You knew he was referring to Jasper, and you smiled at his concern for your safety.

"Yeah, Steven, it's fine. I'll be over in five, okay?"

"Alright! See you then!" He then hung up, and you put your phone in your hoodie pocket, dumping the clothes from your hamper into a laundry basket. It was kind of heavy, but you managed to get it halfway down the steps before Jasper came and took it from you.

"You're such a weakling," she said, chuckling, placing the basket onto the floor. You groaned, walking down the rest of the stairs.

"If that's your way of saying, 'I didn't want you to get hurt by carrying that', then thank you, CJ." She rolled her eyes, leaning against the wall by the stairs, watching as you tied the trash bag. "Well, I'll be back in a little while." You then dragged the basket and the trash bag with you out of the door, telling Jasper to close it. You made your way down the beach to Steven's house, meeting Amethyst on the way.

        "Sup, (n/n)."

"Hey, Amethyst. I brought this for you," you said as you handed her the bag. She opened it, grinning.

"Aww, man! Thanks! I've been looking to add some more trash to my collection." You laughed at her, picking up the heavy laundry basket as the two of you continued to walk down the beach. Once you got to Steven's place, the young boy ran to the door and took the basket from you.

        "Oh, Steven be careful!"

"It's okay, (y/n), I've got it!" You watched him carry the thing with ease, dropping it onto the warp pad. You followed him, standing on it and marveling at the bright light that teleported you to the top of the temple.

"I still can't get over that. No matter how many times I've done it." Steven giggled, putting the basket in front of the washer and dryer.

"I'll leave you to it then! Just text me once you get done so I can warp us back down." You nodded, ruffling his hair.
