"Infatti (Indeed). The last time I saw you write, it must have been...a few days after we arrived." He pondered. Bingo!, my thoughts exclaimed. "What is bothering you tonight, amore mio (my love)?"
"My legacy, Ezio..." I shrugged. "Do you remember when I told you about how things were back before I met you? Back in the 2012 I once knew?" Upon hearing a soft hum of approval, I continued. "Templars had completely ruled over the world, and Assassins were being hunted down. One by one, they fell. But there might still be a chance for us to rectify that. It's a long shot, but...if we do this right, the future might still have a chance."
"Tell me." he urged, to which I could only tangle my fingers with his as he rested his head on my shoulder. I lightly kissed his bearded cheek before I finally began to speak.
"Back when I was in 2012, the United States of America – a country that has yet to exist, in the New World – was an economic giant compared to the rest of the world. It had armies so powerful that it made the rest of the world nations cower in fear. I didn't get to see much when it comes to their correlation with the Templar Order, but my main guess is that the politicians at the head of the American government were among the people providing technological and financial support to hunt down what remained of the Assassin Brotherhood. Now, my train of thought is that if we can implant a strong Assassin presence right along with the first wave of British colonizers, we might have a solid enough ground to work on, and better protect the future colonies from falling to Templar hands." I explained to the best of my ability, but I knew there were yet many questions he needed answered.
"Why do I feel that you forgot to add a "but" somewhere?" Ezio decided to ask, causing me to smile.
"Astute as always, tesoro (darling)...~" I lightly leaned my head against his. "The main problem is that if I recall correctly, we have yet to wait for a long time before the first colony is implanted on American soil. The British will only implement their first colony in the early 1600's, nearly a full century from now. Convincing the Assassin Brotherhood to spread its knowledge to the New World so soon will be the hardest part of this whole plan, but it might be crucial to ensure a solid base to the future Assassins."
"So, in order for your plan to work, we will need to convince the future Mentori (Mentors) that this is a mission of the highest importance." Ezio summed up, quite correctly to be honest. This was a mission that would need to travel a century-worth of new Mentors, be them good or bad, in order for it to be a success. There were so many variables at stake, but we needed to try.
"Hmm..." My gaze drifted to a closed chest in a far corner of the room, where I knew the Apple lay, awaiting someone else to hold it. "Do you think the Assassins would buy it if I say we saw it happen through the Apple?"
"They might. After all, the Apple did tell me that Cesare had fled from prison all those years ago." He shrugged. "I believe this is worth a shot." I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts, however, as I felt an unexpected pair of arms around my back and beneath my knees, before I no longer felt the wooden chair I had previously been sitting on. I clang onto Ezio's neck in surprise. And the bastardo was even laughing!! Ugh, damn him...!! "Now, I believe it is time for me to rescue you from these...details~. We can focus of that domani (tomorrow)." He smirked playfully as he began to walk towards the door.
