There cannot be happiness without grief

Start from the beginning

"Oh, my hero in shining armor...~!" I shook my head, giving him an amused smirk. Laughter erupted from our beings as he led me outside, and for once, I could actually see to what extent people were having fun. There was laughter, music, dancing, drinking and cracking jokes... I honestly couldn't prevent myself from feeling my gaze soften before such a peaceful view. Everything was perfect. Claudia and Leandro, who were casually talking with Diana around a glass of wine, began to cheer at the sight of us, and before I could even say anything, Yusuf and Aurora joined in on the festivities as well. I gave my sweet daughter a tight hug, and with that, I sat next to Yusuf as he poured me a cup of wine. Ezio proceeded to sit by my side, while Aurora sat by Yusuf's. I began to smirk at the sight. Ooooooooo things are getting interesting~!

Suddenly, an evil little idea began to claw at my mind, and before I could even stop myself, I began to sing out some of the little lyrics Ezio improvised back in Istanbul, much to my beloved husband's dismay, and much to Aurora's amusement. We shared fits of laughter at some of his absurd lyrics, and Leandro, Claudia and Diana even joined in on the fun. And as Yusuf wrapped an arm around Aurora's shoulders and affectionately pulled her closer to him, I couldn't help but smile wistfully. Yes...everything was perfect.

1515. A year of great joy. Now nothing but an old couple living quiet lives in the outskirts of Firenze, busying ourselves with our vines and new books sent to us directly from Sofia herself, we were able to enjoy our years to the fullest, sitting beneath a large tree that greatly resembled our little spot by the Monteriggioni walls, relishing in the warmth of the summer winds. 1515 was also a prosperous year for the Auditores, who not only witnessed a great wedding that warm spring, but also welcomed a young boy into this world. Ezio and I were grandparents! Little Flavio Auditore, born on June 27th, 1515, son of my sweet Leandro and of my beloved daughter-in-law, Diana. Oh, Leonardo should've been here to forever immortalize Ezio's face when he got to carry his little grandson for the first time. The last time I ever saw him so happy, it must've been when Leandro and Aurora were born. Tears were threatening to run down his cheeks as he held that tiny being so delicately, nestling him comfortably in his strong arms.

But alas, 1515 was also a year of great sorrow, as the Assassins wept the fall of one of our greatest comrades. Bartolomeo d'Alviano. Died in battle on October 7th, up near the Alps, in Brescia, Lombardia. He was buried that same cold month, in the city where our paths first crossed, in Venezia. He was given the proper burial worthy of an Assassin like him, and for all eternity, he'd rest in a tomb beneath la Chiesa di Santo Stefano. That day, even the Earth itself wept. Pantasilea was inconsolable, and oh, how could I judge her for it? Bartolomeo was an old man, sure, but he was only 59 years old. And now, she found herself widowed, and a single mother of 4. I worried for her. Death was no easy task to handle. God, I doubt anyone knew that better than Ezio and I. I prayed that she'd be alright.

By 1516, the Auditore wine had grown to something of a very presentable state. Our wine was yet of a small quantity, as we managed to fill only 6 barrels of it, but regardless, to be able to sit by the fireplace with a cup of our own wine in our hands was more than gratifying. It was of a rich flavor, and for our first try, I was quite pleased with it. Though Yusuf constantly humored us about our new way of life, I could tell he loved it whenever we gave him a couple of our bottles of wine. Hell, even the twins did! Even though their new lives were in Roma, they always dropped by Firenze every once in a long while to visit. And oh, every visit felt better and better.
