"This is only a recognition mission" Kakashi repeated while he tied my headband, his breath hitting the top of my head as he did. I nodded at his words because he had already made that clear before "We're not taking any risks, nothing that will make any of us noticed"

"I know" I said nodding again and slightly rolling my eyes.

I'm not sure if perhaps he noticed that I did that, but as he finished his hands moved to both sides of my face. His thumbs resting on my cheeks as he lifted my face up to see him in the eyes. His visible dark eye stared seriously at mine from a really short distance, letting me see a glint of worry on them.

"I'm serious (Y/n)" he said looking at both of my eyes "If you see any danger, you're not entirely sure, anything... Just don't take risks and call me. If-" he was about to keep going but I cut him off by putting my hands on both of his, taking them away from my face and leaving them on his hands.

"I know" I said looking at him with a confident and reassuring smile "I know Kakashi. I won't, I promise"

He looked at me for some more seconds, squinting his eye a little as if he was analyzing me before finally separating from me. After that, we both took our leave and ran through the wet and rainy forest until the antique castle from yesterday. Once we got there we stopped by the edge of the trees, still being under their cover and thus hidden. I grabbed Kakashi's hand and slowly ran my finger along his hand, sticking my elastic chakra threads on it.

"Be careful" he repeated before I left.

I ran to my position and waited for Kakashi to start dragging the guards' attention.

When I finally saw their formation had broken slightly I came out from my hidden spot. Moving silently through the shadows and taking advantage of the sound of rain. Luckily, we had foreseen that by making some specific guards separate I could get in easily.

Once I had jumped over the fence and had found my way inside the building the rest was easier, although more dangerous. I had to use more chakra than I would have liked by being almost constantly stuck on the ceiling so I wouldn't get noticed by the guards that wandered inside. And when I saw that doing that wasn't an option I had to make a transformation jutsu to blend in with the castle. If only I could have been able to knock them off it would have been way easier, but just as Kakashi had said if we made ourselves noticed we wouldn't be able to steal the scroll unnoticed. In fact, today's mission was only so we could know the plan of the building and locate the scroll.

After going through almost every hallway of the building I finally stopped at what looked like the office of their commander. I hid, masking and camouflaging with the ceiling, watching some people get in and out, and trying to see what was inside. I probably stayed there for at least an hour before the commander himself left the office. He closed it with a key and tied it on his belt. While I watched him do that I felt my sweat begin sliding down my nose which made my eyes widen at the thought of it falling and making my position noticed.

The scroll was most likely inside his office, which meant my job here was done. I had memorized all places from the building along with where the guards were. I had also located the scroll, so if I were to follow Kakashi's orders I would have taken my leave, exiting the place from the same spot I had got in. But I just couldn't. What we needed was on the other side of the door. If I could just sneak in, get it, and sneak out we would be done.

I extended my chakra threads, slowly and carefully to the commander's belt, until it stuck to the key; and just as slowly as I had stuck it I started to retract it, making the key separate from him. He didn't notice and kept walking, disappearing through the corridor. I quickly jumped down the ceiling, wiping the sweat off my face and rushing to open the door before a guard came to view again. After opening the door I got in, closed it again, and slid the key from beneath the door so that the commander would think he had dropped it.

The office was huge, almost like the Hokage's, but this was filled with bookshelves that would require an inspection in case the scroll was there. Luckily for us, I had now all the time in the world.

I took my time to look at everything. Every shelf, every picture on the wall, every paper scattered over the desk. But just when I was about to get with the drawers I heard a voice coming from the hallway.

"Tell them they will need to wait for me. I forgot something. What the hell is my key doing here"

"You must have dropped it, sir"

The commander sighed and picked up the key. At the realization, my eyes widened.

"Shit" I mumbled.

The office's ceiling was too low for me to hid there unnoticed. I wasn't good at genjutsu either so I couldn't make my way out of it. At the realization that I was going to be discovered soon, I tried to open the drawers but they were also locked, meaning I wouldn't get the scroll anyway.

"Fuck" I whispered as I heard them stop in front of the door.

I quickly pulled the chakra threads that had been stuck to Kakashi's hand all the time, hoping that this emergency plan worked.

The doorknob started turning while I sat in the commander's chair, wide-eyed, and preparing myself for the worst. Unbeknownst to me how amazingly worried and fast, almost at light speed, was Kakashi doing hand seals to bring me back. Which was normal because he was only supposed to bring me back like this if anything happened to me. It was, after all, something I only had to use in case of urgency.

Just when the door was about to be opened my body disappeared with a poof, making me appear in the middle of the forest exactly where Kakashi and I had separated from each other. I didn't even have time to process that I was out of there when I felt Kakashi's hurried hands on my face, inspecting every part of me.

"Are you okay? Did something happen to you? Are you hurt?" he asked me while checking me.

Once I finally realized I was out of there I couldn't help but chuckle tenderly at Kakashi's reaction. Also feeling slightly bad for having worried him. I grabbed his hands and took them away from me.

"I'm fine" I informed him with a smile "I've actually located the scrolls"

But he didn't seem to smile, nor be happy that I found it. Instead, he frowned at me, making me stop smiling. He asked me what happened and I explained to him which only made him scold me for not having done what he had ordered me to do, and not having stayed safe.

"But nothing happened" I excused myself, trying for him to stop scowling "I'm alright, am I?" I asked as we were making our way back. But I got no answer, just silence, which made my chest ache a little.

"Are you mad?" I asked him once we were home as he still hadn't said a word.

"No" he answered plainly and even kind of rude. I bit my lip at his answer and looked at him, feeling bad for having angered him "I'm just annoyed" he added, still not looking at me "If something had gone wrong, and the kuchyose hadn't worked out I couldn't have done anything to get you out of there (Y/n). I told you to stay safe. What would have I done if that had happened? Leave you there? Go inside and get both of us killed? Did you really expected me to choose the first one?"

I blinked twice as I looked to the floor.

"I'm sorry..." I said truthfully "You're right, I shouldn't have taken the risk"

He sighed and walked behind me, sliding my shirt down my shoulder as he took the seal out with a wet sponge.
