Sherlock began climbing up the large rock like he'd done when you'd first gotten here. He motioned you to follow him and you scanned the land for an easier way to get up. You found a place on the opposite side of the rock that looked sort of like a stepping stool where a chunk of the rock was missing. You stepped up and reached out for Sherlock to help you the rest of the way so you wouldn't have to grab onto the rock with your healing, and still wrapped hands. He gripped your wrists lightly, slowly pulling you up towards him. When you made it to the top, you both sat side by side, looking down on Baskerville.
"This is about yesterday?" You stated more than asked, of course he wouldn't stop thinking about what he saw the other day. Who could forget seeing something that defied the laws of science? He nodded as he stared down at Baskerville, scanning it as if he was an x-ray machine.
"I know what I saw, but the question is: how?" You thought about that for a while, not really thinking of it before. Of course, you didn't have much time to think about anything yesterday with your incident. You looked down at Baskerville, eyes trained on the glinting sign that warned of a minefield.
"Well..." You thought about every probable thing that could have made Sherlock see a monster hound. Only one answer made sense. "You were drugged." You realized, looking up at Sherlock. He nodded, his messy curls bouncing as he did so. Of course he already knew that, he must've been thinking about it all night, the man never slept.
"Yes, but how?" He again asked. You thought of this again as you scanned his face.
"Okay... so you saw it... Henry saw it. But John and I didn't." You stated, scanning through anything that only Sherlock and Henry had come in contact with.
"The sugar. It has to be the sugar." Sherlock muttered, ruffling his curls with both hands as he thought. "Only me and Henry came in contact with it."
"From Henry's? That seems... unlikely." You wanted to agree with Sherlock, but it seemed way too far fetched that someone had drugged Henry's sugar.
"Well, we won't know until we find out." Sherlock stood, reaching for your hand to help you up. You took it and you both slowly made your way back down the rock. You made the walk back to the pub and Sherlock quickly jumped into the Jeep, you following behind.
"Are we really going to Henry's to steal his sugar?" You shook your head at your current situation and Sherlock began to giggle. You looked at him surprised, then laughed along with him at his giggle. "For science!" You said seriously, pointing Sherlock ahead as he started the Jeep and you were off to Henry's.
Once you made it there, Sherlock pounded on the door. Henry parted the door slightly and Sherlock barged in with a grin on his face before Henry even had time to react.
"Morning!" You greeted him with a cheery smile as you walked in, keeping up with Sherlock's crack energy act. Sherlock clamped onto Henry's shoulders looking over him with a large grin.
"Oh, how are you feeling?" Sherlock asked as if he really cared. Henry looked tired and the bags under his eyes confirmed that he didn't sleep much last night, of course he had his reasons.
"I'm... I didn't sleep well." Henry shook his head, barely able to keep his eyes open as he looked at Sherlock. He was hardly phased the two of you had come marching into his home so early.
"That's a shame. Shall I make you some coffee?" Sherlock grinned. He turned his head to the ceiling, pointing up at it. "Oh, look you've got damp." As Henry looked up at it Sherlock pushed past him and you both made your way quickly towards the kitchen before Henry followed. Sherlock began to search through the cabinets as you tsked at him going straight to the cabinet you knew the sugar was in from the last time you were there and Henry had made tea. Sherlock rolled his eyes at you as he quickly grabbed it from your hands to grab a few cubes in a small cloth. He tucked them into his coat just as Henry appeared in the kitchen's archway. You grabbed mugs to appear busy as Sherlock uncapped the coffee tin.
"Listen... last night... Why did you say you hadn't seen anything?" Henry of course asked. You weren't surprised by that question.
Sherlock grinned up at him with a horrifying attempt at a friendly smile and you bumped him shaking your head to tell him to drop it. Even you could tell it was not realistic at all. He did, but still gazed at Henry with the utmost interest as he dumped spoonfuls of coffee into the mugs, without even looking. "I mean, I only saw the hound for a minute, but..." Henry pondered.
"See, what I don't get is why you keep calling it a hound." You told him, taking the interest off of Sherlock. He wouldn't have explained himself anyways, but you were still curious.
"What- what do you-" Henry shook his head in confusion.
"It's odd isn't it, Y/n?" Sherlock looked to you and you nodded, crossing your arms over one another. Sherlock had now dropped his friendly act, going back to normal old Sherlock.
"Archaic." You summed it up and he nodded, stepping closer to Henry to look him over.
"It's why we took the case. 'Mr. Holmes, they were the footprints of a gigantic hound.' Why say hound?" He asked again using Henry's own words verbatim.
"I don't know! I-"
"You know what Sherlock, I think we better skip the coffee." Sherlock nodded in agreement and you both raced out of Henry's house, suppressing giggles as you did so. When you reached the Jeep, you burst into laughter.
"The look on his face!" You wiped a tear from the corner of your eye from laughing so hard.
"I- what-" Sherlock mimicked Henry's stutters and you laughed harder, an aching pain filling your stomach from laughing so hard. Molly would scold you for being so 'rude' to the man, but you just couldn't help yourself. It was funny!
"Oh! I've got an idea!" You perked up, a brilliant plan forming in your mind.
"What is it?" Sherlock asked, looking over at you as he drove off.
"Well... we've got some of Henry's sugar..." Sherlock nodded, telling you to continue. "Now we need a test subject." You smiled at him and he caught what you were implying.
"John!" You both laughed like children as you neared the pub to use John as your personal science experiment.
