"If that's what you call it." You shrugged, not sure where he was really going with this analogy. You didn't think he often dealt with people coming through here looking for what he must think you were. Maybe he was just talking about the general public.
"Well, then, go ahead, seek them out: the monsters, the death rays, the aliens." Barrymore said in a low voice. He clearly thought you were stupid. Maybe he'd think twice once he saw you and Sherlock solve the case.
"Have you got any of those?" Sherlock asked with narrowed eyes, jabbing back at Barrymore's mocking words. Barrymore rolled his eyes at that. "Oh, just wondering." Sherlock turned away slightly but Barrymore leaned closer, like he was about to tell you a secret.
"A couple. Crash landed here in the sixties. We call them Abbott and Costello." He spoke sarcastically. You placed a hand on your hip, shaking your head at him. "Good luck." He told you as you both walked out. Once you were out of earshot you groaned in annoyance.
"God, he really does have a stick up his arse, doesn't he?" You sighed. Sherlock looked to you and you stopped, studying the suggestive look he was giving you. "Oh, shut up, I am not uptight!" You pushed his shoulder as he chuckled but continued to walk forward.
Not long later, you'd gotten yourselves set up in a security room. There was a large desk, and many monitors with footage of different rooms of the base. At the moment, you had an image of the lab John was currently in. John thought the two of you were off investigating somewhere else in the base, but really, you were just setting up your plan. You were thrilled to see how John would react.
"Deactivating card." You announced to Sherlock, after seeing John make his way through the door to the lab you wanted him in. You grinned typing into a computer as you deactivated John's pass to get into any other room. He was now stuck in the lab. "He's so going to hate us when he finds out we were behind this." You laughed as you typed. You spun in your chair, watching John on the monitor. Sherlock kicked back, resting his feet on the desk as he glanced down at the monitors. You watched as John entered another door, into a more open area in the main lab. Once you saw him in the main lab, you spun your chair to the right towards the monitors.
"Show time." You chuckled, turning on a huge light as well as alarms as John entered the lab in order to disorient him. He clamped his hands over his ears, stumbling blindly towards the lift. You and Sherlock turned to each other with evil grins on your face as you watched John frantically swipe his pass, shocked it wasn't working. After he swiped it for the 3rd time, you cut the alarms as well as the lights, leaning forward to watch closely. John immediately pulled out a flashlight, squinting in the dark. You knew he couldn't really see much of anything after the bright light. He walked around the room, pulling sheets off of cages as he went down a wall full of animal cages. He jumped as a monkey lunged itself at him through one of the cages. You shook your head, waiting for him to see the next cage. It was all bent up and there was a large gaping hole, where a large animal had 'escaped'. John would instantly think this was the hound. What you had planned became reality as you saw John looking at the bent up cage. He hurried towards a door immediately after laying eyes on it.
"Look, he's trying to leave." You laughed, watching John desperately swiping his pass to get out of the lab. It wasn't working. You wondered why he kept trying after it didn't work the first two times. Sherlock's phone began to ring and you turned to look at it.
"John." He told you, ignoring it. Once the call went through, yours began ringing soon after. You ignored his call as well. You could see John's anxiety rising after neither you or Sherlock had answered your phones.
"How about some growling sounds?" You asked Sherlock. Who nodded, pulling out his recorder and holding it towards a microphone. He pressed down the button, broadcasting the noise to John. Who immediately began running frantically through the lab. He ducked into an empty cage, slamming it behind him. You turned to Sherlock, laughing.
