Don't leave me...

Start from the beginning

"Ti amo...più di tutto (I love you...more than anything)..." came his soft reply. A few comfortable moments of silence went by before he finally spoke. "I am going to help her as much as I can...so long as it does not endanger your life and Mariana's."

"I'll watch over Mariana..." I tangled my fingers with his. "Don't worry about us, I'll take good care of her."

"I know you will..." and with that, he pressed his lips against mine, making me hum in appreciation. Ugh, morning kisses were the best... we kissed for a few moments, before at long last, it was time to get up. Ezio left the bed first while I enjoyed my "5 more minutes". When I finally did get up, Ezio had already left the bedroom. And just as I was combing my hair, I heard yelling coming from outside. Surprised, I glanced out the window, only to see an enraged Ezio yelling at Jun. I frowned in confusion. What the hell happened...? I rushed downstairs, but by the time I arrived, Ezio was nowhere to be seen. I decided to look around, and finally found her sitting beneath the shadow of our tree, hugging her knees.

"Jun...?" I called out to her, quickly earning her attention as I walked towards her. "I heard yelling. Is everything alright...?"

She didn't reply at first, only looking down at her feet. I decided then to sit by her side. I placed my hand on her shoulder, hoping my presence would be enough to calm her down. And fortune favored me, for it had been the case. "He...loves you... very much..." she began, looking out towards Ezio's office, where I could see him pacing around.

"He's been shutting himself in his office more and more, but...si." I nodded, smiling softly. "Ezio and I have shared a lifetime together, Jun. We fought together, we survived together, we lived together. He's everything I have." I looked back at her for a few moments, my gaze softening. "You asked how to reunite your people. It's not going to be an easy task. But you're a good person, Jun. Speak from your heart. Speak wisely, and wise men will listen."

"But...how?" she asked then.

"If you have a sincere conviction that your views are correct, then people will follow you. But it won't be easy, Jun. People follow more easily with fear than with love. But with love, they follow you willingly. And for love and freedom, men and women willingly sacrifice their lives. The core concept of the Assassin Brotherhood is freedom, Jun. Free will. You join the Brotherhood not because you have to, but because you want to. As Mentor, I too had to deal with that burden for a few years in Ezio's stead." Ahh, those fateful years while Ezio was away after Cesare in Spain. It was difficult, to be away from him for so long. But I guess being away from him only made his return more rewarding. "The Assassins are your family. They're your brothers, sisters. And by becoming Mentore, you're given the task to protect them all." It was no easy task. But if she was capable enough of travelling across half of the world just to seek our aid, then I had no doubts she was powerful enough to rebuild her Brotherhood.

She was going to say something, but then, we heard steps coming towards us. And looking over, I watched as Ezio stopped in his tracks right in front of us, looking both pissed off and regretful. I furrowed my brows. What had she seen that he had not wanted her to see? He looked down at us for a few moments, before finally letting out a soft sigh.

"(y/n), watch over Mariana. I am headed out to town." He told me, his expression softening slightly as our gazes met. I gave him a soft smile in return, right before he turned his attention to Jun. "Jun, come with me. There is something I want to show you." He said, causing Jun's eyes to snap to him in surprise. I gave her a reassuring smile in response before finally looking up at Ezio.
