Chapter 12: The Night Out

Start from the beginning

"What about after we eat, Mom? What'll we do then?"

"How about we go to the movies? There are a couple of theaters that aren't far from Hard Rock." You smiled, nodding your head quietly.

"Yeah, sounds good. What do you think, Jasper?"

"Sure," she said, shrugging. Her head was resting on the back of the seat, and her eyes were closed. You smiled slightly, leaning against the window again and closing your eyes as well.

*time skip brought to you by quick naps*

You felt the car coming to a stop, so your eyes opened. You looked out of the windshield, seeing that your mom was driving in a parking lot. "Are we here?" you asked, yawning and rubbing at your eyes.

"Yes, we are, sweets! And from the looks of it, there seems to be a bit of a crowd. But nothing too serious." You nodded, turning to look in the backseat at Jasper. She seemed to be asleep, but you weren't entirely sure since she wasn't snoring or anything.

"Hey, Jasper," you said, reaching back to tap her thigh. She opened one eye, raising a defined eyebrow at you. "We're here," you said, sticking your tongue out at her with a wink. She sat up, resting her forearms on the back of the front seats. Her amber eyes flicked from side to side, taking in everything she was seeing. You giggled quietly, turning to face in front of you once more. Your mom finally pulled into a parking space, shutting the car off.

"Okay, everybody out," she exclaimed cheerfully, opening her door.

"Someone's excited," you said, closing the car door behind you. Your mom bounced in her place, smiling at you.

"When I tell you that the drinks here are a-maze-ing...I mean it." You laughed, walking to stand on the left side of your mother. "You have to at least have one with me, (y/n)!"

"Mom, you know I don't drink like that. And if I do drink with you, who's going to drive?"

"Jasper can drive," your mom said, whining, clinging to Jasper's arm.

"Jasper doesn't have a license on her, so what if we get pulled over?" you asked, laughing.

"Oh, whatever, fine! I'll just have Jasper drink with me." You shrugged, kind of curious as to how Jasper's body would react to alcohol. She was a gem, so maybe it wouldn't affect her at all. Your mom walked around the corner of the building, squeezing and swerving in between people. You tried to keep up with your mother's movements, almost getting lost in the crowd of people on the sidewalk. Jasper grabbed ahold of your arm, pulling you in front of her. She kept a steady hand on your head, people in the crowd dispersing to let her through. You looked up at her through your lashes, her hand still resting gently on your head.

"What, brat?" she growled, holding the door open for you, blocking the way of other civilians who were trying to get into the same door, even though there were others.

"You're so sweet," you said, giving her a cute smile. Jasper rolled her eyes, pushing you gently into the restaurant, a faint blush resting on her cheeks. Your mom stood in line behind several other people in front of a podium. There was a host behind it, tapping away on the monitor screen in front of him. You looked to your left into the restaurant, noticing that people were filling tables up in the main area pretty quickly. You skipped a few people, standing beside your mom in the line. "Ma, I think you have to have a reservation for this place or something."
