The Reichenbach Fall: Chapter 11

Start from the beginning

"Look, for God's sake, this man was on trial!" John gestured towards Jim with a furious look. Jim had Kitty tied around his little finger; he disgusted you.

"Yes, and you paid him; paid him to take the rap. Promised you'd rig the jury." Again Kitty pinned all the blame on Sherlock. Sherlock turned to her now, staring in silence. "Not exactly a West End role, but I'll bet the money was good." She walked around the three of you to Jim, wrapping a protective arm around him as he still stood with his hands shielded in front of him. "But not so good he didn't want to sell his story."

"I am sorry. I am. I am sorry." Jim nodded, looking from you to John. You rolled your eyes at him, not buying his act for even a split second. He couldn't fool you or make you feel like you were living a lie, you knew the truth and this wasn't it.

"So-so this is the story that you're gonna publish. The big conclusion of it all: Moriarty's an actor?!" John shook his head at Kitty, almost like he couldn't believe this was really happening; that it was all real. You looked to Sherlock, getting worried as he stayed completely silent.

"He knows I am. I have proof. I have proof. Show him, Kitty! Show him something!" Jim said in desperation, swinging his arms to put Kitty into action.

"Yeah, show me something." John crossed his arms defensively as he watched Kitty walk across the room and reach into what looked to be her work bag. She dug around in it before revealing a folder. You kept your eyes on Moriarty as his evil look appeared on his face for a split second, and he smiled at you then looked over to Sherlock. You looked to Sherlock, wondering what he was thinking. Hopefully coming up with a plan, because you were fresh out of ideas at this point. You weren't sure if you had the capability to convince Kitty otherwise after Jim had done all his handiwork. She was too convinced.

"I'm on TV. I'm on kids' TV. I'm The Storyteller." Jim slipped back into his scared act as Kitty turned around, bringing the folder to show John. John flipped through the file a look of disbelief on his face. He shook his head back and forth as he continued to look at various articles.

"I'm... I'm The Storyteller. It's on DVD." Jim repeated, looking over the three of you with a desperate look. "Just tell them. It's all coming out now. It's all over. Tell Y/n how you used her. Just tell them. Just tell them. Tell them!" He yelled at Sherlock. "It's all over now... NO!" Moriarty screamed as Sherlock lunged towards him in anger. He took off up the flight of stairs. "Don't you touch me! Don't you lay a finger on me!" He turned looking back at Sherlock in absolute fear.

"Stop it. Stop it NOW!" Sherlock screamed in anger. Jim turned, continuing up the stairs.

"Don't hurt me!" He yelled as he ran into the flat's bathroom and slammed the door shut. You ran after Sherlock and John, hoping to catch Moriarty before he could get away.

"Don't let him get away!" John yelled as he followed Sherlock quickly up the stairs.

"Leave him alone!" Kitty yelled from the bottom of the stairs looking up at the three of you. You stopped behind Sherlock and John as Sherlock rammed his shoulder into the door and it burst open. The bathroom was empty and the window was wide open. Sherlock ran to the window and looked out of it before he turned back to you and John with an angry look.

"No, no, no. He'll have back-up." He pushed past the two of you to go back down the stairs. You followed, knowing there was no way you would catch up to him at this point. He was too far gone. Your only chance at helping Sherlock just got away and now there was nothing you could do. You felt hopeless.

Before Sherlock reached the bottom, Kitty blocked his way. She looked up at him with her dumb smirk. "D'you know what, Sherlock Holmes? I look at you now and I can read you. And you... repel... me." She got in his face and Sherlock shoved past her, hurrying out the door with John behind.

"You'll regret this. Your job will fall apart when Sherlock is proven innocent." You whispered in a low and angry voice as you passed her. "No one will ever let you write for them again!"

"I'm sorry your boyfriend is a fraud!" She yelled after you. You bit your lip, ignoring her words, continuing on your way out the door to catch up with John and Sherlock. They were stopped out on the street and Sherlock was already pacing back and forth rather rapidly. You were all shaken up.

"Can he do that? Completely change his identity; make you the criminal?" John asked, in hopes Sherlock would know a way out of it. There wasn't one.

"He's got my whole life story. That's what you do when you sell a big lie; you wrap it up in the truth to make it more palatable." Sherlock said in defeat as he continued to pace back and forth on the street.

"He framed me too at first, but Sherlock changed his mind." You growled, shaking your head.

"He knows your background too. Your medical records; people would be less likely to believe you would fake it. Your photographic memory serves as proof. You can't fake those medical records. Plus you were allowed on all those scenes, it's your job." Sherlock sighed as he continued to pace. You looked at him, knowing it was true. Maybe that was why Moriarty was so easily convinced by Sherlock, because it would be harder to convince people you were guilty.

"Your word against his." John shook his head as he watched Sherlock pace.

"He's been sowing doubt into people's minds for the last twenty-four hours. There's only one thing he needs to do to complete his game, and that's to..." Sherlock stopped his pacing as he turned away from you and John.

"Sherlock?" You questioned, taking a step towards him. He realized something, what was it?

"Something we need to do." He spoke softly, turning to take your hand.

"What? Can I help?" John asked, looking up at the two of you from the files Kitty had given him.

"No – just Y/n." Sherlock took off down the street and you followed him, John watching the two of you go.
