The bell rang, snapping me out of my daze. I looked at Drew, who was dragged away by Taylor. My eyes flickered back to Dean, who was still in character.
"He's gone," I whispered, snapping him out of it. He furrowed his brows and met my eyes, then quickly pulled away. "That was smooth."
"Thanks," he smirked, grabbing my hand again. We both walked to English, our arms swinging between us.
When we walked into English, he didn't let go like I thought he would. I could feel the shock radiating off of Mr. Cullen as we walked past him. He was well aware of my crush on Drew, and my hatred of Dean. He probably thought I was crazy. No doubt he'd ask about it today after school.
Jaz's face was priceless. Dean's hand dropped as soon as I reached my desk and I nonchalantly took a seat like anxiety wasn't swallowing me whole.
"Is this a joke?" She asked aloud. "Are you pranking me? You two?"
"Um..." I started. Lying wasn't coming easily to me. For Christ's sake, she was my best friend! I told her practically everything! Now I was just lying to her?
Dean took over for me. "Yeah, we're dating. I asked her this morning." Well, way to be blunt.
Jaz was speechless for the rest of class.
It was journal Friday, so it's not like she had the ability to ask questions anyway.
I thought about a potential topic. I decided to rant again, like I did for the past two entries. It seemed to be a fun prompt, especially for the grader.
Besides, I didn't need to convince Mr. C that Dean and I were dating. I'd probably tell him it was all fake anyway.
So I ranted. I wrote about all of Dean's annoying habits, but then an idea struck. I could just write about our whole situation! That way, it would explain everything and I could talk about how much I hated every second.
I smiled to myself as I wrote, taking breaks to relieve my hand. Mr. Cullen would give me weird looks every time I looked up, and I would just avoid his gaze, hiding my smirk. It was fun seeing him look so frazzled.
When he announced the end of class, I looked at my journal. I was already on page 3! I snapped it shut and passed it forward.
"I look forward to reading these this weekend. Have a good one guys." Everyone started packing their bags. "Uh, Bella, see me before you leave."
Jaz wiggled her brows as she passed my desk. Dean followed her out, leaving me behind.
Some fake boyfriend.
I stopped at the teacher's desk and innocently bat my eyes. "Can I help you?"
"Yeah... you don't need to stop by today. I'm not planning on staying." I nodded, getting ready to leave. "Um," he stopped me. "Any chance you're going to explain that?"
"It's in the journal," I called out as I walked out of class, heading to calculus.
Mmm, my favorite class. Note the sarcasm.
I passed Drew in the hallway. I focused on the ground, avoiding his gaze. Whatever he was thinking, I didn't want to know.
I promised myself I would no longer trust his actions. If he had something to say, he could do it to my face.
I actually breathed of relief when I entered the bland math class. Like usual, I zoned out. No wonder I wasn't understanding anything in class.
Chemistry was the same, but this time, I was more aware of my surroundings. I could hear whispers directed to me. I could see the obvious distaste girls had in their eyes.
