"Hey!" a voice called from the end of the hall. Dean pulled away and both our heads whipped to the source. An administrator was coming our way with a stern face.
In a swift motion, Dean grabbed my hand ran out the door. I managed to keep up with him, thanks to the adrenaline. It was exhilarating.
But every moment with him was.
We made it into the student lot and lost our follower. My face cracked into a huge grin, making him confused.
"What?"
"You're crazy," I smiled, giving him a quick peck.
"Only for you babe," he winked, pulling me further into the lot. Butterflies, always. But that giddy feeling soon turned to dread as we stopped at his bike. He patted the seat, telling me to get on.
"Hell no," I scoffed. I might have been acting out of character, but there was no way I was riding that death trap. There were certain limits I wasn't willing to push.
He gave me puppy dog eyes, an expression I never thought he'd have. "Please?"
I defiantly shook my head no.
"Okay, what if I answer one of your questions?"
Tempting.
I still shook my head. "Dean, you can forget it."
He huffed and grabbed my hands, forcing me to turn toward him. "But what if I..." he leaned in close, our lips brushing. All my senses dulled as I willed him to kiss me.
Then his signature smirk reappeared and I remembered his motive.
"Smart, but still no."
He groaned like a child and ran his hand through his hair.
"Listen, if you're so insistent, you can drive my car. But I'm not sitting on that," I stood my ground, eyeing his bike with disgust.
"You'd let me drive your car?" he asked, shock in his voice.
I furrowed my brows. "Why wouldn't I?"
"You just treat it like your child or something," he claimed, dragging me in the direction of my Jeep before I could change my mind. He held out his hand and I put my key in his palm. He had a mischievous glint in his eye and I just hoped I wouldn't regret this.
"You know, we kinda need to talk," I said when we both sat in the car. He ignored me and adjusted the seat, making a comment about how short I am. "Did you even hear me?"
"Yeah, but whenever a chick says that, it's not good," he said nonchalantly.
A chick? Did he just call me a chick? Oh hell no!
"Fine then. You can just drop me home. And walk back to school." I turned toward the window and stared at the view. The lot was totally empty, except for cars. There wasn't a single person in sight.
He turned on the car and reversed out of the lot. As soon as he put the car in drive, he rested his hand on my knee. I forced myself to be nonchalant, even though the gesture was driving me crazy.
I didn't understand how he had this effect on me. Everything he did made me swoon, even if it was just looking at me.
We pulled into a Chick Fil A and he parked the car. I didn't look at him, but I felt his gaze on me.
"Fine, we'll talk," he sighed. Wow, he was giving up much easier than I thought. If only it was always like this. "But let's eat first."
I happily hopped out of the car. His hand reached out for mine but I didn't grab it. I didn't want him to know how nervous I was.
