We ordered and took a seat at a booth. It was pretty empty, considering it was a school day. It was still early too, so we only had breakfast, but I didn't mind. I loved their Chicken Minis.
"Okay, as much as I don't want to ruin our perfect little bubble-"
"Then don't," he shot back.
I gave him a flat look before continuing. "Anyways, we really need to talk about us. Look, I don't really know what you want, but I'm not the type to just have flings or sleep around. I want a relationship, and if you don't, it's better we stop now before I get hurt." I anxiously swallowed. "And if you do want a relationship-"
"I do," he replied quickly.
"Well, I need to take it slow. I've never been in one, and I know you haven't either, but you're more... experienced than me. Until you, I never even kissed a boy."
"You don't mind kissing me," he grinned.
"I don't," I replied honestly. "But, I feel like we're jumping into this too fast. I think you're forgetting I know literally nothing about you."
"You know all you need to," he sighed.
I raised my brows. "What if one day we get married? I don't even know what my last name would be!" I bit my tongue, hoping that talking about marriage wouldn't scare him off. I didn't mean it in a clingy way, I just wanted to know what his last name was.
"I can't tell you my last name because... there's a reason, okay? Just trust me."
His answer shocked me. Of course, he didn't give me an answer, but I expected him to go running at the thought of marriage.
Not that I was even considering it yet.
"Okay, but there are other things. I haven't met your parents, been to your house, know a single thing about you except the gang thing, which I kinda don't believe..." I trailed. Honestly, I didn't believe it. Yeah, he looked like a badass, but gangs? And his life seemed way too calm now. There's no way it could be this easy. "You don't know that much about me either.
He glanced at me with a wary look. "I know a lot about you. I know that at first impression, you seem a little stuck up, but you're far from it. I know you'd do anything for your friends, even if it hurts you. I know how much it bothers you when my leg touches yours at lunch," he grinned. I looked up at him, surprised he noticed that. "I know how jumbled you get when I'm around." I expected him to smirk, but he looked sincere.
"Okay," I blushed, avoiding his gaze. He was right about everything. I hadn't noticed how observant he want.
"Look, I get your concern, and we can actually start over if you want, but there are some things I'd not like to bring up."
"Like what?" I asked innocently.
"Hm, clever," he said sarcastically. "You're not getting me that easily."
A worker came up to our table and flashed a flirty smile to Dean as she set our food down. I expected him to act just as flirty, or at least give her a smile. Instead, he didn't even spare her a second glance.
One point for me, zero for the desperate employee.
We dug in and I was surprisingly hungry for someone who just ate breakfast.
"No milkshake for your fries?" he asked while chewing on his chicken biscuit.
I gave him a horrified look. "Chick Fil A fries don't mix with milkshakes. Even if they did, it's like eight in the morning." It was still pretty early for fries too, but that isn't as weird as a milkshake. I was just grateful they made lunch foods earlier if you requested it.
