Start from the beginning

"Did you get my message?" She questioned softly, not looking up from her little reception replica.

"Yes." You nodded.

"And you understand what I'm going for?" She questioned, glancing up at you.

"Of course." You nodded. She gave you a wink then pulled her phone from her pocket.

"Ooh, hang on. I'm buzzing." She lifted the phone up to her ear as she pretended to be listening to someone on the other line. "Hello? Oh, hi, Beth!" That got John's attention as he looked to Mary who walked away towards the kitchen. "Yeah, yeah, don't see why not."

"Actually, if that's Beth, it's probably for me too. Hang on." John stood, following Mary into the kitchen. You watched him go before you took a seat next to Sherlock, watching him fold serviettes at an alarming rate.

"Hey, have you noticed John's been acting strange lately?" You mentioned casually, taking a pretend cautious look back at the kitchen. Sherlock continued to fold.

"How so?" He didn't stop his fast paced work as he passed a folded serviette over to you, which you placed carefully onto the floor.

"I think he's getting restless with all this wedding stuff. He's clearly stressed. Maybe even terrified." You whispered, again looking towards the kitchen. Sherlock shook his head in disbelief.

"No, why would he be?" He paused, stopping his folding for a moment to think about it. "Is he?"

"Of course he is Sherlock! He's getting married soon and all this planning makes it real for him. He's probably itching to get away from all this. You have to remind him you'll still be there for him, even after he's married. Take him out on a case." You proposed.

"You think? Alright, I will." He nodded in agreement. Still folding his serviettes. "Wait... what about you?"

"I have tons of files to fill out for Dr. McClendon. I'll stay busy and keep Mary company." You promised him. He nodded. You heard someone stumble through the kitchen doorway and you looked over to see John standing there awkwardly.

"Did Mary say she needed me?" You stood, not waiting for a response as you walked past John and into the kitchen.

"So?" Mary asked expectantly.

"Went perfectly. Didn't even expect a thing. What about John?"

"Also perfectly." She grinned, stashing her phone back into her pocket. You smiled, hearing Sherlock and John conversing in the other room. You heard them start to get up and you took that as your cue to exit the kitchen as Sherlock was throwing on his coat. They both looked up at you, obviously thinking of excuses.

"Er, we're just going to... I need, um, Sherlock to help me choose some, er, socks." John stared while simultaneously Sherlock said,

"...ties." They awkwardly looked at each other before they turned back to you. Mary gave you a small smile at their behavior.

"Why don't we go with socks?" Mary cleaned it up for them and you nodded.

"Yeah." John quickly agreed.

"I mean, you've got to get the right ones." She reasoned for them.

"Exactly – to go with my..." John again explained.

"...tie." Sherlock finished just as John said,

"... outfit." They again blinked awkwardly, but you disregarded that one.
