"Anyway, since I'm not allowed to answer that question, which is partly true, we-" You groaned at Sherlock's words as he was eager to move on. Sherlock was blunt, and a lot of the time, so you were you. But you could clearly tell how angry John was and how that statement would most likely upset him.
"SHUT UP!" John shouted, his eyes still yet to leave Mary. Mrs. Hudson jumped at John's yell, her hand covering her mouth in surprise at his anger. "And stay shut up, because this is not funny. Not this time." John's breathing was heavy as he finally took a look at Sherlock, that made you wonder if this was the definition of a 'I want to kill you' look. Because that's what John's face clearly depicted.
"I didn't say it was funny." Sherlock told him.
"Just- no more." You told him softly as John placed his attention back to Mary.
"You. What have I ever done... hmm?... my whole life to deserve you?" John spoke this in increments as his anger was taking over his body, causing him to breathe heavily.
"Everything." Sherlock groaned, adjusting his weight against your side. You gave up on trying to get him to stop talking, it wasn't going to work anyways. Sherlock had no filter when it came to what he wanted to say. If it came to his mind, he was going to say it.
"Sherlock, I've told you... shut up." John said in his same dark tone.
"Oh, I mean it, seriously. Everything – everything you've ever done is what you did." Sherlock nodded and you cringed slightly as John made his way towards the both of you, his breathing becoming more labored as his anger continued to pile up.
"Sherlock, one more word and you will not need morphine." John threatened him.
"You were a doctor who went to war. You're a man who couldn't stay in the suburbs for more than a month without storming a crack den and beating up a junkie. Your best friend is a sociopath who solves crimes as an alternative to getting high." He paused as he looked down at John, still seething with anger. "That's me, by the way. Hello." Sherlock waved at John slightly. "Y/n is practically the same, and even the landlady used to run a drug cartel." Sherlock gestured to where Mrs. Hudson still stood in the doorway of the kitchen.
"It was my husband's cartel. I was just typing." She defended, looking a bit embarrassed by Sherlock's words.
"And exotic dancing." He added after gazing at her for a moment.
"Sherlock Holmes, if you've been YouTube-ing..." Mrs. Hudson trailed off as Sherlock interrupted her.
"John, you are addicted to a certain lifestyle. You're abnormally attracted to dangerous situations and people... so is it truly such a surprise that the woman you've fallen in love with conforms to that pattern?" Sherlock told him truthfully. John closed his eyes briefly as a hurt look flashed across his face at the truth behind Sherlock's words.
"But she wasn't supposed to be like that." John shook his head as he pointed back towards Mary, his voice faltered and his anger was beginning to mix with pain. "Why is she like that?"
"Because you chose her." Sherlock told him after a long moment of silence. John looked at Sherlock for a long time before he turned away.
"Why is everything always... MY FAULT?!" John finished his statement in a loud shout as he kicked one of the small coffee tables beside Sherlock's chair to the floor. It toppled over, clanging to the ground loudly. Mrs. Hudson flailed her arms at the noise.
"Oh, the neighbors!" She shouted, hurrying out the door. You watched John closely as he turned to face Mary, his breathing still heavy.
"John, listen. Be calm and answer me. What is she?" Sherlock looked at John's back as he was turned towards Mary. You watched him, knowing what Sherlock wanted him to say, it was just making John realize that as well.
