"My lying wife?" He spoke harshly, his eyes not leaving Mary.
"No. What is she?" Sherlock tried again.
"The woman who's carrying my child who has lied to me since the day I met her?" John continued.
"No. Not in this flat; not in this room. Right here, right now, what is she?" Sherlock looked at John as he stopped. After what seemed like forever, he nodded sniffing deeply. He finally understood what Sherlock wanted.
"Okay. Your way. Always your way." John marched to the kitchen, picking up a chair and slamming it down in between his and Sherlock's chairs. He then looked towards Mary, pointing at the chair.
"Sit." He commanded.
"Why?" Mary questioned, shaking her head at John.
"Because that's where they sit." John told her, his voice forced and tight. "... the people who come in here with their stories. Th-the clients – that's all you are now, Mary. You're a client. This is where you sit and talk and this is where we sit and listen, then we decide if we want you or not." Without another word, he walked over to his chair. He cleared his throat as he sat, waiting for everyone else to do the same. You glanced up at Sherlock and he nodded as you helped him to his chair to sit. You gave Mary a sad smile as you leaned on Sherlock's chair, to confirm this is what she needed to do if she wanted any chance at salvaging her and John's relationship. She looked over you for a moment, before she nodded. She walked up to the chair, placed her bag beside it, and adjusted her clothing before she took a seat.
You all sat there a moment before Mary dug a hand into her pocket, withdrawing a flash drive. She placed it on the table next to John before she sat back in her chair. You scanned the drive noticing an acronym written in the flash drive in sharpie.
"'A. G. R. A'?" You questioned her.
"Er... my initials. Everything about who I was is on there." She spoke, tucking her hands between her thighs as she spoke. She turned to John, now speaking to only him. "If you love me, don't read it in front of me."
"Why?" John shrugged, not seeming to care what she wanted at the moment.
"Because you won't love me when you've finished and I don't want to see that happen." Mary said, her voice now faltering as she spoke. She turned away from John, taking a deep and shaky breath. John looked at the flash drive, before he swept it into his hands and shoved it into his pocket.
"How much d'you two know already?" She spoke quietly as she scanned over both you and Sherlock.
"By your skill set, you are, or were, an intelligence agent. Your accent is currently English but I suspect you are not. You're on the run from something; you've used your skills to disappear; Magnussen knows your secret, which is why you were going to kill him; and I assume you befriended Janine in order to get close to him." You cringed at the mention of Janine again as Sherlock looked over at Mary. She laughed, shaking her head at him.
"Oh – you can talk!" You rolled your eyes, but smiled slightly at her. It was best to move on from the whole situation instead of staying bitter. John grunted in anger from his seat, but was ignored as Mary continued on.
"The stuff Magnussen has on me, I would go to prison for the rest of my life." She nodded at Sherlock's previous statements. You knew he had something bad on her, but you hadn't realized it was that bad.
"So you were just gonna kill him." John crossed his arms as he looked over at her.
"People like Magnussen should be killed. That's why there are people like me." She told him.
