45- Two Sneak Ins

"Hello, Earth to Ary," a hand waved in my face and I zoned back into the conversation.

"Sorry," I mumbled.

My grandpa shook his head. "Don't worry about it, kiddo. I was just asking how the arm was? I cannot believe it's so unsafe to roam the streets here! You'd think Michigan was safe, but I guess not."

I snorted. "Like New York is any safer."

My mom shot me a disapproving look from across the table. My grandad only chuckled. "You got me there, kiddo."

I smiled, glad he didn't think I was being disrespectful, and focused on my food. I tuned out the conversations around me again, not really in the mood to talk.

It was great that my family was such a distraction tonight. I still wasn't over the fact that Andrew basically trespassed into my backyard, let alone the fact that Dean abandoned me. With them here, I didn't have to think about it, and I appreciated that.

"Third Iron Man after this?" I turned to my cousins. They all nodded in agreement and resumed their eating. I noticed none of us were really talking to the adults and I wondered why. Sara especially was a kissass. She loved making good impressions with our grandparents.

Then I kinda realized they didn't talk to her much either. Tonight, the conversation redirected to Sam and me. I'd have to ask her about that before she left.

We finished our meals and I tried not to gag when Justin dumped his leftovers on my plate. I rolled my eyes and handed it to Sam, who gracefully shoved it down his throat.

Gross.

They all went up to the screening room and I stayed behind to help with dishes. My aunt fawned over how helpful I was and it made me feel a little bad. I knew she'd compare me and Sara at some point because that's exactly how family was.

I finished loading the dishes then I grabbed a coke and headed to the room, leaving my mom and aunt to gossip. The screen had the movie up, but it was paused. I dimmed the lights and sprinted to my favorite chair.

The third movie was personally my favorite. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the plot holes because he blew up all of his suits and decided not to be a superhero. Then, bam! He showed up during Avenger's Infinity War with all his gear. It was super confusing.

When I finally turned on the lights, I realized everyone was half-asleep. Sam was scrolling through his phone, Justin was knocked out, and even Sara looked drowsy.

"Guess we're not watching Avengers," I chuckled. "Alright, I'll clean up. Everyone, go to bed."

Sam helped his sister up and I gently shook Justin awake. He mumbled some curse words before dragging himself up to his room. I doubted he'd actually make it up there before falling asleep on the floor.

I picked up all the trash we left behind and used our mini-hand vacuum to get all the crumbs. The last thing we needed was ants. I threw all the trash away and turned off the screen before leaving, making sure everything was neat.

I was about five feet away from my bedroom when Sara yelled out a blood-chilling scream. I widened my eyes and ran to my bedroom, afraid of what would await.

"Sara! What-" I froze.

"I- I swear I thought it was you!" A very rugged green-eyed boy was standing in my room, hands thrown up defensively.

"Dean?!"

A body stepped behind me. "What's going on? Who are you?" Sam frantically asked. I pulled him in and closed the door before we had any more unwanted guests barging in. He immediately went up to his sister, who was sitting up on the bed. "Did he hurt you?"
