Instead, I texted someone else.

Me: Hey, Justin told me some shit went down? Do you wanna meet up to talk?

Reece: Sure, I'll be at your place in a couple hours.

I groaned, realizing he was coming here. I was going to suggest the library or somewhere more public. Plus, giving me 'a couple hours' wasn't helpful. How many was that? Two? Five?

Instead, I sent him a confirmation and hopped into the shower. The rain made my hair all frizzy and I needed to take care of it.

When I finished, I changed into fresh clothes but kept Dean's clothes on the side. I shamelessly lifted his shirt up to my nose and took a big whiff. It seemed so good, exactly like him. I tucked it under my pillow so I'd have it tonight and then got ready.

I didn't really put in effort for Reece. I just kept a simple bare face, but moisturized and brushed my hair. I checked my phone and had nothing from him.

I sighed and decided to start my homework downstairs. I was about halfway done with chemistry when the doorbell echoed throughout the house.

"Hey," I smiled, stepping to the side so Reece could come in. He looked oddly happy for someone who was kicked out of the captain's position.

He automatically went for the long couch and stretched across it. I give him an amused smile as I sat on the recliner to the side. He sure felt at home already.

"So you called?" he asked when he stopped stretching. I gave him a confused look. I thought me calling him here had obvious reasons.

"Uh, yeah. What happened? Why is Dylan taking the pressure of being the sole captain?"

He scoffed. "Bella, you did not call me here to talk about football. You have questions and I might have answers. I'll start off by saying that yes, I got kicked off because I spent the week back in Chicago with Dean and the gang."

My heart sunk in my chest. I knew he went back, but I hoped it wasn't true.

"So young one, what else do you want to know? Is it about Skylar?" he asked with a smirk. My brows furrowed at his question. Who? Realization dawned upon his face and panic flared in his eyes. "Oh fuck, he didn't tell you anything."

"Why? Who's Skylar?" I sounded a little panicked, and I was. Was she someone I should be worried about?

He looked stressed, which didn't help his case. "Just the girl in our gang. She was the one who was there that night."

I thought about it and remembered exactly who he was talking about. She was the one who was shamelessly flirting with Dean, and with the look on his face, I could tell Reece was hiding something. Then again, I really didn't want to know.

"You know, I think you should talk to him about this..." he trailed, standing up. I desperately went after him and grabbed his arm to stop him.

"I can't," I desperately pleaded for him to stay. He ran a hand through his golden hair and sighed. "Please?"

He nodded and went back on the couch, sitting upright this time. I took a seat on the opposite end.

"Look, I'm scared, okay? With everything. I don't want to talk about it with him because then it'll only confirm the truth, and that's only if he doesn't lie to me again," I sighed, avoiding his gaze.

He put a hand on my knee. "That's not what I'm talking about." I furrowed my brows in confusion. "Look, you need to talk to someone about getting shot."
