?ll?ll? chapter six ?ll?ll?

Start from the beginning

"you'd never," you teased, poking him jokingly in the arm only to be swatted away. he exhaled loudly through his nose before continuing down the forest, finding as much wood as he could to complete the half-built house. "anyway, we need to decorate this bland-looking room. look at how boring it is!"

to emphasise your point, you spun around in the small hut, pointing at all the bare walls (there were no windows yet) and grassy ground. making a carpet would be the least of your worries, so for now, the floor would have to be completely made out of wood. shame.

"can't we focus on one thing for ONE MINUTE?!" bakugo yelled, feeling pissed that he was being ordered around so much. first, he had to mine. then, he got told to help with the farm, and now you were complaining about a boring house. he was so close to blasting your face off. "i need to finish breeding the chickens."

"we could make a cake," you grinned, presenting the three empty buckets in your inventory. all you needed was to milk the cow and collect the eggs from the chicken pen and boom, you'd got a cake. "after all, isn't it a certain someone's birthday soon?"

sure enough, it was bakugo's birthday tomorrow, and although he'd spent his special day last year on his own in the comfort of his own home, you didn't want him to be so lonely this time. you only knew this because midoriya had told you and the rest of the bakusquad, and you wanted to at least spend time with him. he was low-key quite humble, not wanting people to worry about him or care that much, but it was difficult to not. he was close to you, after all, and you did care about the hot-headed mess (even if he constantly insulted you).

"whatever," he muttered, rolling his eyes and continuing to run around aimlessly, searching for more pigs. "once again, you're about to do another thing. focus, goddamn it."

"i am focusing," you giggled, running over to the chest in the corner of the house and looking around for the stack of wood bakugo had accumulated. as you'd guessed, there was a stack and a half, and you gathered it to continue building the roof of the house. the windows would unfortunately have to be holes in the walls for now, because you didn't have any sand to turn into glass. why hadn't you gathered at least some when you spawned? "oi, do we have any spare wool?"

"why the fuck do we need wool?" he asked, his eyebrows raised. "and no, we don't."

"damn it," you complained, throwing the sticks back into the chest. "i will destroy my bed just to make a painting."

"you're so stupid," bakugo sighed, face-palming. "just how important is a painting to you?"

"very, i'll have you know!" you exclaimed, glaring at him. "interior design is my top priority."

"i would believe you if your actual dorm room didn't look so shitty," he retorted, looking around. a flash of red appeared in your face, and you punched him in the thigh. your room wasn't that bad; it was just messy, since you couldn't be bothered to pick up your school uniform that you'd thrown lazily across the floor. school was tiring as it was, and why tidy your room if you could play minecraft instead?

"shut up," you muttered, looking away and back at the screen. "we need to decorate. i hate bland rooms. it just looks depressing."

it was then that bakugo noticed. how had he never realised before?! you were so energetic and always so bubbly, and preferred things to look pretty. he'd also noticed that you distracted yourself from so many things such as villain fights and arguments within the dorms. from the beginning of their first year, he'd noticed that you'd avoided combat as much as possible, only using your quirk if it was necessary and to protect the others. at first, he assumed you were cowardly, but you were the complete opposite.

you were this way to avoid the fact that the outside world was just... sad.

he remembered first meeting you. watching how energetic you were and how enthusiastic you were about school made him want to vomit; he couldn't understand how someone could be so happy about something as simple as that. your quirk was difficult to handle, too, which is why he'd seen you hang around with shitty hair so often. kirishima had originally had issues with his quirk, so it was only natural that the two of you stuck together.

for once, he finally understood.

"y/n," he began, and you hesitated at hearing your first name come out of his mouth so easily. other than kirishima, he never used anyone's proper name. "i have something to decorate the house with."

"what is it?" you asked, cocking your head at his sudden mood change. however, you were surprised when bakugo came into the house and went straight to the crafting table. he threw in eight sticks and a piece of leather to create an item frame, and in silence, he placed it above his bed. then, with a small, satisfied smile on his face, he placed the red tulip you'd given him into the small box. your cheeks went pink, and you couldn't help but smile.

"there, happy now?" he asked, a little bit more forcefully than he'd anticipated. "we've got the room decorated."

"it looks nice," you replied softly, brushing your fingers over the black plastic of the controller you held. it shouldn't have been such a big deal that bakugo had put a flower in an item frame, but it was more of the way he'd done it. you shook your feelings out of your head and your usual smile appeared back on your lips. "but don't you think that that's all we're doing! a single tulip on the wall isn't going to change the fact that this room is so boring!"

"god, nothing pleases you, does it?" he sighed, shaking his head. "anyway, dipshit, it's night."

"oh yeah!" you exclaimed, looking up at the minecraft sky and noticing how dark it was. "anyway, i must ask you an important question."

"go on then," he snapped, his eyebrows raised at you. "spit it out then!

with a grin, you then flopped across his lap, much to the surprise and disgust of bakugo, and, as dramatically as possible, you said:

"may i place my minecraft bed next to yours?"
