Chapter 27

"I'm frustrated because we can't find out if there's a mole here in the pack. I don't know who lying or not even with my powers. Alice has an air-tight alibi but I don't believe her not for a second and I also don't believe that she has friends. I'm sorry but I do not, it is impossible to believe that someone like her could make a friend.  And Kyle is still out there somewhere. OK, he could've killed dad. Why hasn't he attacked the pack by now? Is his plan to hurt those who are close to me or something? Everything just always came so easily to me mom. Money, clothes...Ashley. Why are things so complicated now?" I said all in one go and just when she was about to speak I interrupted her. "I'm angry because the guards left their post just to attend a party? I mean if that was the case when they're off duty they could throw their parties for all I care or even go to a club but they left the pack unprotected, mom. There was an attack at that specific border when they left and Ellie got caught in the crossfire and I'm confused because she rather handles things alone than call for backup," I added.

Mom was about to talk again but I wasn't finished. "After everything, I tried my best to let Ellie realize that she is not alone and she doesn't have to do things alone because she has me. She has me, mamma. But instead of calling someone she went after those rogues by herself and look where she ended up. In the frickin hospital! I'm confused because she knows that she doesn't have to do things by herself but if she had the choice to she would pick being alone over accepting any ones help," I said, a bit calm now. "With anything. Why mom?" I said softly as I lowered my head in my hands. 

My mom grabbed my hand and tilted my face up to look at her. "Listen to me my handsome prince," she always called me that when I was little but I told her to stop when I got older. She never listened and right now I'm glad she didn't, no matter how much I asked her to stop. "Nothing in life comes easy, OK. You have to give it all you got to get what you want. Yes, the money and the clothes came easy for you because you always told us that that's all you need and because you are the son of an Alpha and a Luna materials and things were never hard to come by. But if you put your mind to something and give it all you got then you can accomplish anything, you hear me," she said to me and I nod my head. "And I understand why you are angry with the guards honey. What did they do would have made your father a whole lot worst and he would have banished them from the pack. You did the right thing but put them in the cells and suspended them from duty son. Now what you need to do is channel your anger and focus on the mole in the pack and prepare your pack for the next attack. And when you finally come face to face with Kyle you let all that anger out, don't hold back," 

She leaned back a bit and then a smirk came unto her face. I narrowed my eyebrows at her wondering what she was thinking. "As for Ellie," Oh now I get it. "Son, she's a warrior. She would've jumped in front of a speeding bullet to save anyone which means that she was gonna jump into battle to protect her pack. As for going at it alone well, that's just who she is. She knows that she's not alone but she rather does things alone to protect the ones she cares about. Like fighting the legendary Iron Fist a few weeks ago," I nod my head, starting to see her point. 

"Yeah, that was stupid," I said

"Or fight a battle all by herself," mom added. "Son, I don't think that Ellie wants to be alone. I think that she thinks she needs to be alone ever since what happened with her mate. It damaged her. And because we didn't want to push her any more than we already have, we let her be alone and that was our mistake. Don't give up on her Jacob," Mom rests her hand on my shoulders. "I wasn't going to mom. I would never intend on doing that," I said as I placed my hand on hers which is on my shoulder. "And like I said she's a warrior, she's gonna want to fight some battles on her own," she smiled at me and I did the same. "I see your point mom. Thank you for listening and for helping me understand," I said to her and she kissed my forehead. 

There was another knock on my door and after I said come in Christian came in. "Christian, what is it?" I said to him as I turned around in my chair. "It's Ellie," he said and I narrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "She's gone," 

"What do you mean she's gone?" Mom asked as she came off the table and faced Christian. "The nurses went to check up on her and found her bed empty. But don't worry I've already assembled a search party to look for her," he added the last part rather quickly. "No don't," I told him and both their attentions came my way. "What?" My mom said. "Don't assemble a search party. I know exactly where she is," I got up from my chair and headed for the door. "How do you know?" Mom asked again. "Because I know Ellie. See you at home, tonight mom," I said to her and kissed her on her cheek before leaving. "Do you want me to come with you?" Christian asked this time. "No, I need you to keep everything under control while I'm gone," he nod his head before I left the office.
