As soon as we were about four feet apart, he turned his chair and looked at me seriously.
"Getting used to rocky paths is a bit complex, isn't it? For one, my ass bobs up and down it aches and my legs kept sliding off the footrests. Try fixing any hopeless part of your body every now and then." he spat bitterly as he resumed pushing his chair with such force that I only see whenever he's upset. I shook my head warily and caught up with him, hugging him from behind as I wrapped my arms around his neck and buried my head into his fuzzy, dark, wavy locks.
"Sorry. Never thought it was that of an issue with you." I said as I buried my head into his neck to which he jerked a bit since he was a bit ticklish in that area. I removed my grasp from him and saw that Owen looked a bit bashful this time.
"Don't be. It should be I who should apologize for being such a headache. Why don't you just break up with me and go find some other able-bodied wimp?" he said with a hint of venom in his tone. I took in some air before exhaling and narrowed my eyes a bit at Owen.
"And be thrown off another balcony? Dude, that is so fucked up I'd rather stick with your bookish ass and kiss you til your lips are sore." I said as I purposely licked my lips and put a finger on Owen's mouth to which he eventually curled up the edges of his lips to turn to a small, subtle smile.
"That is quite the feat, Athena. I'd love to see you try." he said, smiling to himself. I shook my head and crossed my arms as we began to slowly walk again on those cursed cobblestone paths to make sure Owen doesn't feel uncomfortable pushing his chair in. We were a bit near our spot under the apple tree where I stupidly, blindly, admitted that I actually liked him.
Once we actually got to our spot, I laid down my unholy school blazer for me to sit on as Owen locked in his brakes and transferred down to my side by the grass, overlooking the children's playground where he once gave a kid a ride.
He gently laid his head on top of mine and panicked a bit once his hair actually got stuck in one of my medium-sized, hoop earrings with stars dropping down a bit. Today was one of those rare days when I chose to purposely defy school rules by wearing such earrings but I couldn't care less. I was a senior and I've given enough shits about their rules. Once I heard Owen's voice actually get louder the longer he had his hair stuck, I frantically untangled his hair from my earring by removing it gently and fumbled with it until his hair was set free.
After realizing how stupid the whole thing looked, we laughed our heads off and I nearly passed gas from holding my stomach too long.
"Okay, I've got to get you child-friendly earrings some time. Aren't hoop earrings already considered hazards?" he said, his accent accentuating more on the word, 'hazards'. I shook my head and put back my earring which unfortunately, had a single, wavy strand of Owen's hair stuck on it.
"Don't be hating on female fashion trends! I got these at Goodwill." I said as soon as I popped that thrifted earring back on and turned to see Owen shaking his head with his mouth in a straight line.
"Whoever owned them before must've given them up for safety reasons." He emphasized.
"Beats me, if they're cute, I'll but them." I said, shrugging.
Suddenly remembering how he phrased his first sentence before that ridiculous 'safety reasons' excuse, I opened my mouth agape and pointwd a finger at him, narrowing my eyes a bit. Owen raised his brows at me and looked innocent.
