My Own Science (Dr Stone Senku x reader)

Back to the plot!

"Senku." Tsukasa, who was cutting the animal's corpse apart, showed him its stomach. "The alligator swallowed this whole."
Senku was at first a bit disgusted by it but then let out an 'Ah!' once he took a closer look. He got the thing out, revealing a complete ear of corn.
"Kukuku! And just the special American variety we're after!" he smiled.
"Hell yeah!" Chrome exclaimed. "We found the life-giving corn!"
"It tastes like crap but you can squeeze a crazy amount of alcohol out of it!"

Meanwhile, you've tasted you alligator-burger and now you were asking François for seconds.

"There's no telling how much of the corn is left though." Senku said the next day as you and him were sitting on the lab-boat's roof as you guys rode down the river.
"Well it's been like three millennia." you said. "The corn must've developed all throughout the land. I actually expected it to be everywhere at this point."
"Actually, it's impossible for corn to grow by itself." he explained. "It's a human-made plant, and it needs very specific condition to be planted and to grow."
"I see..." you thought for a second. "How long does corn last?"
"On the fields, a few months."
"Then there's no way there's any corn left!" you exclaimed. "Will we have to grow it ourselves?!" then, you remembered the deadline you guys had. "How long does it take to grow corn?"
"Sixty to a hundred days."
"How the fuck-That's way over our time limit! Isn't that a plot hole?!?!"

"Senku!" Kohaku called out.
You both turned around and the worry you had instantly disappeared and you burst out laughing when you saw her leaning towards the river, grabbing Hyouga's hair for support, while he was still driving the motor-boat. And he was struggling, and it was hilarious to watch.
'He looks like a fuckin' idiot!!!' you dare not say but thought really hard, knowing he would already kill you just for laughing.

Kohaku showed Senku what she picked out of the water.
"Corn kernels!" he exclaimed.
"They were floating downstream." she said.
"How convenient..." Senku said to himself before looking at the others. "It's not the source though, we'll have to keep going."

This evening, as soon as you made camp, Senku placed a white cloth over a light.
"By checking out which bugs this light stimulus attracts, we can learn more about the area." he explained, holding a bug net. "And if my guess is correct..."
A short while after, he caught a bunch of insects, most of them were tiny moths. Nothing compared to the giant monstrosities you guys had.
"The European corn boror moth!" he smiled.
"European?" you raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, 'cause they originate from Europe, but then they came to North America during the colonization."
"Oh got'cha." you nodded.

"And they mostly subsist on corn, which means there's a ton of it nearby!"
What he said made you realize something and you looked at him, he had a gloomy look on his face. You could've realize it sooner, but you were too busy making fun of Hyouga (who by the way, told you very ominously to never mention it ever again).
"So there are people here!" you said. "Isn't that a great thing?!"
"Uh...What brought that conclusion?" Gen asked.
"It's a miracle that there's any corn at all, it's human made! All the corn would've disappeared within months."
"What?!" everybody exclaimed.

"W-well maybe Senku was planning on us growing the corn ourselves!" Kohaku said.
"It takes sixty to a hundred days to grow, we'd never have time!"
"What?!?!" everybody exclaimed again.
"That's-That's a huge oversight Senku-chan!" Gen said, unsettled by this completely out of character move on Senku's part.
All eyes were on him now, waiting for an explanation. But he couldn't think of something. Not that he overlooked it, he was too smart for that. But he knew that was a plot hole.

Luckily, Tsukasa came to the rescue! He began looking around with a grave expression.
"I sense...bloodlust."
"You 'sense' it?" you frowned.
"Well, more like smell. I believe this odor comes from the breakdown of adrenaline."
'Oh my god thank you Tsukasa for bringing back some logic into this!!!'

The battle team began to look around for anyone of anything dangerous nearby as complete silence fell onto the scene. You looked too, narrowing your eyes and blocking any lights from your sight so as too better see in the darkness of the forest.
Then, you saw something.
A little red dot. A single line of smoke emanating from it. A few seconds pass, with you staying motionless, then the red dot lit up a little bit. Just enough for you to see the bottom half of a face, smiling.
Not looking away from it, you blindly tapped Senku's arm and pointed at the stranger.
"Is that a cigarre-?"
"To the boat now!!!" Tsukasa suddenly shouted. "Take cover!!!"

Then, the guy started to fire towards you all with a machine gun. The sound made your ears ring and you covered them. Senku pushed you down to get inside the lab. When the shots were going directly towards him, he used the trap door as protection before closing it.
"Ha!" Ryu exclaimed, rushing to the driver seat. "Never underestimate a captain and his helm! Water bulwark!"
He made the engine roar so that the wheels were splashing the river's water on the stranger before fleeing the scene.

"Are you okay?!" you placed your hands on Senku's cheeks, onviously worried.
"Kukuku, of course." he smiled. "Takes more than that to pierce through carbon fiber!"
He said it confidently, but you could see his pale face and his hands shaking. You smiled, your eyebrows furrowed, and kissed him on the forehead.
Right now, you were just glad everyone was okay and in one piece.
