I'm Going To Kill Her

Start from the beginning

"Ryder Jackson Emerson, that is no way to speak to your mother," she scolds.

"It's the truth though. Then, you walk in here acting as if you own the place. News flash, this is my company. Not yours. Mine. You cannot just waltz in here as if everything is right in the world and ask me for money when you've spent all of yours," I say.

"How did you know I needed money?" she asks.

"It's the only reason why you keep in contact with me. I'm guessing your man isn't allowing you to spend every last dime of his money like dad almost let you do. So you come running back to your son to see if he pitied you enough to spare you some change. Well, guess what, mother, I don't. So get out of my office," I snap.

"Again. Do not speak to me that way. Are you still with that circus freak? Or did you finally let her go?" she asks, making my blood boil.

"Call her a freak again and I swear to God I won't hesitate to snap your neck. Mother or not, you do not disrespect the woman I love," I reply.

"No one colors their hair red unless they've got issues, Ryder. And look at you, you're carrying on and yelling at me for no reason. She's clearly stressing you out. Let me call up that lovely girl, Kira. Your dad used to do business with her parents and she had taken a liking to you. I'm sure she could ease your stress," my mother says.

"Again, no. Now get the fuck out of my offi-," I start, but I am cut off as the door opens.

"Hey babe, I was wondering if you were ready to- oh. Um, hello," Ari says as she realizes my mother is here.

"Speak of the freak," she mutters, but loud enough for us to hear. Ari's hormones are all over the place these days because of the pregnancy, and because of that, she's extremely emotional, which is why when she heard that, she looked as if she was about to cry her eyes out. Blinking back the tears, she smiles at my mother and walks past her and comes towards me.

"You ready to go?" she asks.

"Yes," I say as I get up to kiss her.

"Give me your hand," she says.

"Why?" I ask.

"Just give me your hand," she says with a small laugh.

"Ok, ok," I say, giving her my hand. Taking my hand, she places it on her belly and I feel something push against it.

"Holy shit. Is that? Is that the baby kicking?" I ask.

"I think so," she says. "Whenever he or she hears your voice, that's when they decide to move around a lot. Like when I was in the car driving to work today and you were on the phone, that's when it started. And then through work there was nothing, and now that you're talking again, the baby's moving," she adds.

"Woah, ok," I say. Leaning down to her belly I say, "Hey there little man, or little girl. I'm not really sure what you are yet, but I think you might be a girl. Your momma thinks you're going to be a boy so we made a bet, but, thank you for kicking me. It made my day," I said, earning some more kicks which caused me to smile. Kissing her belly I look back up to see my mother with a shocked look on her face.

"So this is why you're still with her. She's pregnant with your kid and you don't want the public to think you're an asshole for leaving her so you're staying. Look, no one knows about it, we can easily sign you up to get an abortion, and then my son can finally let you go and live his life. It'll be like it never even happened," my mother says. As always, leave it to her to ruin a perfectly good moment.

"She is not getting an abortion. We're raising this kid together because I love her and I want a family with her. The only thing that is going to happen, is you leaving my fucking office," I say.
