I'm Going To Kill Her

Start from the beginning

"As you wish. I don't want to be in the same room as your circus freak anyway," my mother says as she walks out the door to my office.

"I'm sorry about her," I say to Ari.

"It's ok. What did she want anyway?" she asks.

"Money as usual," I reply. "Now come on, we need to get going or we'll be late," I say.

"Yes, valid point," she says. As we head downstairs, we head to Ari's car and drive to the doctor's office. After signing in at the front desk, we wait till the doctor calls us in. After what seems like forever, our name is finally called.

"Ariana and Ryder. Welcome back," Dr. Nevaro says.

"Hello," Ari says.

"So, mom, how are we feeling?" she asks Ari.

"I'm feeling alright. Just a bit more tired than usual but the morning sickness did go away," she says.

"Good, good. How about you, dad. How are you feeling?" she asks me.

"I'm excited but nervous. I felt the baby kick for the first time today," I say.

"Ah, yes that usually does put a smile on any dad's faces. When did the kicking start?" she asks.

"Today actually. I was in the car talking to him on the phone and the baby started to move around like crazy," Ari says.

"So the baby likes your voice. I've seen that happen a lot in many cases. Are you ready to find out the gender?" she says.

"Yes," Ari and I both say at the time. As Dr. Nevaro places the cold gel on Ari's stomach and then puts the monitor on top, the screen shows our baby.

Our baby.

I still can't get over the fact that we're having a baby. Me. With Ari. The most amazing person in the world. She's having my kid. Holy shit.

"Alrighty, from what I can see, everything looks good, let's just make sure the baby's heartbeat is nice and strong," she says, and soon enough a steady beating sound fills the room. "Strong heartbeat and a good size for where he is in his development. I'd say that-," she starts again, only to be cut off by Ari.

"I'm sorry, did you-did you say he? As in we're-we're having a boy?' she asks, tears in her eyes.

"Yes, indeed I did. You're having a little boy. Congratulations," Dr. Nevaro says.

"You owe me a hundred bucks," Ari says as she turns to me.

"You guys bet on what the gender is?" Dr. Nevaro asks with a laugh.

"Yes, we did," I say. Wiping the tears that began to form in my eyes away, I kiss Ari on the forehead.

"Aww, babe. Are you crying?" she asks, tears welling up in her own eyes.

"I'll get these printed and leave you two alone for a bit," Dr. Nevaro says as she gets up to get the images printed.

"I'm just so happy. We're having a little boy," I say.

"Yes, we are," she says, wiping the gel off her stomach.

"Hey there buddy. So it turns out your mom was right, you're gonna be a Lil man. Guess your mom and I are going to have to try again and give you a little sister," I say with a laugh.

"So do you guys have any questions, or should I proceed with what's going to happen from now until the end of the second trimester?" Dr. Nevaro says as she walks in to hand us our pictures.

"Um, none that I can think of," Ari says.

"Alrighty. So this is week 21 and everything looks good. At 22 weeks, your baby's eyelids are still fused shut, but the eyes themselves are starting to move. Tear ducts are also forming and your baby now has eyebrows, which are little tufts of fine white hair. He may be furrowing those tiny brows of his. Your baby is also becoming more and more responsive to external stimuli, which is why he responds to the sound of Ryder's voice. At 23 weeks, your son is going to be the size of a grapefruit and we'll finally be able to weigh him in pounds. By 24 weeks, your baby's movements may feel a little stronger and more noticeable, with pokes and kicks becoming more frequent. His muscles have been growing, and he now has much more muscle tone. Additionally, your baby's inner ear is fully developed. By 25 weeks, your baby is still growing, and toning those muscles and your uterus is going to be about the size of a soccer ball. At 26 weeks, your baby's lungs are hard at work, getting ready to take those first breaths once he's born. The lungs are now starting to produce surfactant, which is a substance that helps the lungs inflate properly with each breath. Finally, at 27 weeks, Your baby is working on his kicks and stretches, and he's starting to make grasping motions. He's also starting to smile, especially when he's sleeping. I want you to come back in exactly 6 weeks, so when you're in the 27th week so we can smoothly transition into the third trimester. Usually, I would schedule another appointment before that, but your baby looks like he knows what he's doing so I believe you're totally fine," Dr. Nevaro says.

"Ok, sounds good," Ari says.

"However, and dad I'm talking to you especially, you need to take it easy. Ari, if you're feeling fatigued at work, take a break and sit down to breathe for a few minutes. Especially near the end, your back is going to start hurting more and we don't want you to strain yourself. Dad, I'm going to need you to go gentle if you do decide to have 'sexy time' as you call it with Ari," she says, causing Ari to laugh.

"Yes, ma'am I shall go easy on her," I reply.

"Good. Now if no one else has any questions, you are happy to go because we're all done here," she says. As we walked out of the building, we picked up some Japanese food since that's what Ari was craving. Heading home, we sit on the couch and eat our Japanese food when a TMZ breaking news headline interrupts our show.

"Breaking News: CEO of Emerson Enterprises Ryder Emerson and girlfriend Ariana Tacori are expecting first child together" the headline reads.

"Talk to me, Stacey. What do you got for me?" Harvey says.

"Well, my source wanted to stay anonymous, but look at this picture I got from them," Stacey says. Instantly, a picture of me kissing Ari's stomach appears. A picture that only could have been taken by my mother. I'm going to kill the bitch.

"I think the whole reason why the security around Ariana has been amplified is to keep the public from finding out that she's expecting his kid. By the looks of it, she's at least 4 or 5 months along, so they've been keeping this a secret from us for a while now," Stacey says.

"I'm going to kill my mother. That bitch would do anything to get her hands on some money," I seethe, my blood boiling within me.

"Hey, hey. Breathe. The public was going to find out eventually, it was only a matter of time. Your mom just sped things up a bit," Ari says.

"I know, but I wanted to keep you protected from those vipers for as long as possible," I say.

"I know, baby, I know," she replies, laying her head on shoulder. Taking my hand, she puts it back on her stomach so that I could feel our son moving around, which instantly calms me down. Taking a deep breath, I decide to deal with my mother at a later date. Right now, I had bigger and better things to plan.
