"Haha! Look at you! Aren't you being so pathetic now?" The voice kept ringing in her head. The girl's oh-so charismatic voice rung in her head a big difference to her husky ones. She was a sight for sore eyes. At least to Jisoo, she was. Jisoo was in exactly the same spot as she was two years ago. Jisoo was a sight for sore eyes. Everyone looked up to her, and she looked down to everyone. Socially speaking, for sure.
Cellphones were pointed at her. The preying eyes were as though they were taunting her. They were laughing as she slipped from her throne, her reign. Her crown was slipping for months and she had no idea. The Bombshell had a knife alongside her. She was honing her knives in silence as Aces & Eights were laughing at their usual hangout spot, The Aphrodite's.
The Aphrodite's is some kind of underground knock off nightclub that had each of their favourites, bands, games, drugs and liquors. Maybe some sex, if they were lucky or simply had money to pay. Money is power. Everyone at CrystalHill Preparatory Academy knows that. And almost everyone wanted that. With money and status, comes power and with power, basically, you're inevitable.
"Now, did you think that we were friends Carter-Lee? You're pathetic." She laughed. Jisoo shakes off the memories as she leaned back to her chair. He was late and she hated waiting. She sighed, staring at her wristwatch. The aromatic odour from the coffee cut her thoughts. She took off her sunglasses, massaging her temples as the clank of the cups was set in front of her.
"Hey, you okay? You look a little pale." She looked upward seeing the broad smiling man in front of her. The boy with the crescent eye-smile was long gone. "I'm so happy that you're back in Hamgye, Hamgye isn't the same without you, Soo." He continued telling her about how's he been doing the past years. She nodded once or twice with little inputs of her own to let him know that she was indeed listening.
She looked out of the café they were in. Eternity was the name. The girls of Aces & Eights loved visiting the café in between breaks and more times than she could remember, they would often find excuses to skip classes and hang at the Eternity. The city of Hamgye. Hamgye is considered as the elegant younger sister of Seoul. She is the glamourous, full of the richest and not typically busy like Seoul was.
"So... about my favour?" She cocked her head to the side, reading his face intently. Park Jinyoung. Jr was what people call him. The Nice Guy. They've been close since they were small despite the social class differences. Jisoo was born in a silver spoon rich family and he, well he had a roof over his head and enough food. But he was always kind to her or perhaps it was that she was the one who's always kind to him.
He sighs, brushing his hair making it even messier than it was. She had asked him what she would call a simple favour but for him, he was afraid, and it wasn't easy to get what she really wanted. "I'm just afraid that what I have is not enough or simply just inaccurate." He sighed long, "But I don't have it with me now, perhaps tomorrow, I could drop by to your house before Monday." He studied her expression and he could tell that she was not pleased.
"I need it before Monday, and it doesn't matter whether it's imprecise or not. I'll be the judge for that." She took a gulp of her coffee. "The dossier is important, and I trust that not one soul knows about this, Jr." She took out her purse, leaving few changes as she slid back her sunglasses. That's right, The Ex-Queen is back and she's back with a plan to take back what belongs to her. "Get it to me before Monday," And with that, she left him.
"Where were you?" The voice looms over the darkness from the entryways of their house. He walked towards her, showing his displeased face to her. "I thought that when you decided you'll come back; you'll stop the shenanigans." He crossed his arms looking at her. She rolled her eyes at him, letting the servants take off her coat.
"I did no such promises." She scowled at him, "Look at you, corrupted by her." She muttered as she passed by him. Their house looked empty with few moving boxes left unopen. It was so different years ago. Their parents were still there with them, her brother was kind to her. She queried what poison did she fed him.
It must have been lethal since their notable Carter-Lee's company went to insolvency. Their father was thrown to jail and her mother was struck by his side. She went running under their father's order. Jisoo had followed her mother for the past year, living in a European city that even her couldn't pronounce the name off. Her brother, on the other hand, wanted to stay back courtesy of the little devil. She kept him on her leashes while she threw the knives at her families back.
She was coming back to that hellhole with the pretentious name, the day after tomorrow. She wondered what the responses might be but one thing for sure, she was prepared. She's willing to take back what belongs to her and perhaps take something that isn't hers just for the sake of vengeance. Why wait for karma to fuck bitches over when she could well do that on her own? She was done waiting and karma did nothing for her.
That night, Jinyoung had knocked on her window with his laptop and few files in hand. "Is that what I think it is?" She couldn't hide her grin. Hell, she could even be more kind to him. "I knew I could only count on you," She squeezes his arm softly.
"The dossier on Aces & Eights." He set the files on her bed. "In the flesh," he smiles a little when she pats on her bed to let him sit with her while going through the dossier. "So, which dossier will be your first choice?" He sat at the edge of her bed, waiting as she skimmed through the dossiers.
Naturally, she picked the worst first, The Bombshell, Bae Joohyun is also known as Irene. Was her best friend. She opened the files with the basic information that is generally known to others. She flipped through each page until she saw a pencil's writing that Jr has added. "She's not with The King?" She inquired as she saw his handwritten added notes.
Jinyoung nodded, "Apparently a few months ago, she had a falling with some of the males of Aces & Eights and it causes a scene at The Aphrodite's. I snooped around that she's in an on-off relationship with another member of A&E. No confirmation though." He paused, taking out five files from his back. "I think you should pick players too to fight her players."
"Aces & Eights has eight notable players and you can't do this alone, even with me working in the shadows. I recommend getting these people on your sides, I snooped around as much as I could and almost each of them had 'something' with or against the members of A&E." He paused; his face was determined to show that he was serious about his suggestion.
Jisoo flipped all the files open to see who they were, 'The Mysterious: Jennie Ruby, The Sweet: Roséanne Park-Avery, The Doll: Lalisa Pranpiya Manoban, The Naughty: Yerim Kim, and The Bad: Bobby.' She never really knew all of them personally but the thought intrigued her. "Why is this Jennie's file is basically empty?" She kept flipping and flipping to see more but it was white. Plain white, empty. "Then who can you know that she has something with or against the A&E? And Bobby? He's sketchy."
"That's why I put 'The Mysterious' there cause I can't find anything. I think for her, I really have to dig really deeper. Maybe stalk her given the chance." He shrugged his shoulders, "But funny thing is that I saw something interesting at The Playboy's locker. There was a picture of him and her. It's not clear but the features look like her. But I'll dig deeper for you. As for Bobby, I think he'll be very useful cause he can get anything we want. If he's on our side."
Jinyoung was right. Aces & Eights have notables players. Jisoo knew how they strived to have anything they wanted. Hell, she has had the taste in firsthand when Irene wanted her reign. Maybe having more players will benefit each and every one of them. The more blades they have, the more wounds they'll get. But the players as Jr described them as seems suspicious, moreover one of them were siblings with A&E. But even siblings don't see eye to eye. But one thing for sure, things are going to get ugly.
