"Gyro! You should've taken those off the moment you finished!" you scolded, nervousness leaving your mind as you rushed over to your doctor. You snatched his wrists up in your hands, inspecting every inch of his hands and arms to make sure there the patient's blood hadn't gotten on him anywhere.
Gyro was taken aback by your sudden actions, staring at you with wide eyes and an agape mouth. It took you looking at his face to realize just what you had done, and you quickly let go of him while hiding your face.
"Ah! My apologies! I shouldn't have done that!" You bowed you head over and over, offering profuse apologies while Gyro just stared at you with that same shocked expression. The longer he remained silent the more red your face grew.
You spat out one more sorry before rushing out of the room in embarrassment, hiding your face in your hands.
"Idiot," you whispered to yourself. "How could you be so stupid?! You have no right to touch the doctor, especially not with your low position! He's going to hate you for the rest of his life now, ahhh!" You pounded the heels of your hands into your temples, cursing yourself and your feelings toward Gyro.
If only you didn't love him as much as you did, you wouldn't have been so concerned for his health. Any normal person would have been able to just tell him to wash his hands! Only someone as thoughtless as you would rush over and grab his wrists.
You were so lost in your thoughts as you walked down the seemingly endless hallway that you paid no attention to your surroundings. Being as clumsy as you were, it was only a matter of time before you tripped over something; except that something just so happened to be your own feet. A small squeal escaped your lips and you fell to the ground, your knees taking most of the force from your fall as they connected with the tile floor.
You hissed at the pain, positioning yourself so you were sitting on your butt. You pulled your knees up to your chest, inspecting the thin streams of blood that dripped from the broken skin.
"Y/n!" You looked to the side to see Gyro rushing towards you.
Great. Just great.
"Y-yes doctor?" You stretched your legs out in front of you, quickly wiping the blood away and forcing yourself to stand up. The sting from your earlier fall still remained, and you leaned yourself against the wall to try and dull the pain.
"Are you okay? I've been behind you since you left the room and you were mumbling to yourself the whole time. And didn't you just fall? Are your knees okay?"
You cursed Gyro for being so observant. "Y-yeah, I'm fine." You forced a smile, but Gyro didn't buy it for one second. His eyes moved down your figure to your knees, which had not stopped bleeding despite your desperate attempt to wipe the red liquid away. You shuddered under his gaze, holding your hands behind your back to hide the blood stains on them.
Gyro noticed the subtle movement, reaching for one of them and pulling it out in front of you before you even had the chance to fight back.
"You're bleeding," his eyes shifted up to meet yours, making you feel weak and vulnerable.
"It's nothing!" You assured him, waving your free hand in front of you, completely forgetting for the moment that it too, had small stains of blood on it.
"Tch, you're a shitty liar," Gyro scoffed while pulling you into a nearby medical room.
He sat you down on the bed in the middle, digging through the drawers to find bandaids and something to clean your wounds with. After finding everything he needed, Gyro dragged a chair over, positioning it in front of you and sitting down. His eyes were level with your breasts now, and you felt a whole new wave of embarrassment wash over you as you brought your hands up to cover your chest.
"Don't do that, you'll get blood on your uniform," Gyro instructed, eyes focused on one of your knees. You did as you were told, lowering your hands but not allowing them to touch anything. Gyro placed one of his hands in the crook of your knee while using the other to dab the blood away with a cloth covered in soap and warm water. The pressure sent a string of pain coursing up your leg, and you gritted your teeth to try and keep from making any sounds.
"Sorry, it probably stings, doesn't it?" Gyro whispered, placing a bandaid over the cut and moving to your other knee.
You opened your mouth to say no, but the only sound that left your mouth was a hurt gasp as he started cleaning the other cut.
"I told you, you're a shitty liar."
"I'm fine, really! It's only a little scratch, I can take care of it myself. You don't have to worry about it!"
"If a little scratch gets infected, it can turn into something a lot worse," Gyro partially scolded. "Plus... maybe I want to take care of you."
Gyro's voice was so low and quiet at the end that you couldn't tell if what he said was your imagination or not. Even if your brain did just make it up, the very thought made your face turn a bright red, which made Gyro chuckle a little.
"There," he exclaimed, placing the last bandage on your knee. "Now give me your hands."
You did as you were asked, hesitantly holding your hands out for your crush. He used the cloth to wipe away the blood, looking over them to make sure there were no more cuts.
"See, all better," he smiled widely at you, a smile that made butterflies flutter in your stomach. You looked away shyly, offering him a quiet thanks.
Neither of you moved for awhile, his hands still lightly gripping yours as if there was something he wanted to tell you. When you looked back up at him to ask why he was still there, you saw he had a light blush of his own dusting his cheeks. His eyes wavered with uncertainty as he stared into your e/c orbs.
"I... I really like working with you!" he spat out, face growing more red than before.
"H-huh?"
Gyro cleared his throat. "I think we work really well together and I hope we can continue to take care of people together in the future as well, is what I meant..."
He smiled shyly at you, making your heart skip a beat. Although you had no idea if his words carried the meaning your mind assumed them to, you still felt a sense of happiness and relief wash over you.
"I like working with you too, Gyro. Let's continue to work together no matter what!"
