"Give it to me!" He jumped but Jaehyun was holding the key high up in his hand. It didn't exactly help that the suited man was taller than him either. Taeyong jumped a few times but Jaehyun swung his arm from side to side, the corners of his lips twitching in suppressed amusement.
Is he really teasing me right now?
When Taeyong realised what was happening he stepped back with a huff, his face slightly turning red. "Let's just go.. we're running late."
He hid his face as he walked to the passenger side and sat down. His warm face and knees were turned to the window as Jaehyun started the car, not paying the smaller boy's quiet protest any mind.__
Taeyong felt people's eyes on them as they stepped out of the car in the parking lot and shifted his feet. Most of them were probably on Jaehyun, he thought, half in wonder of who he is and half admiring his good looks, not that Taeyong would ever admit he was good looking... but he had eyes.
"Just stay away from me," Taeyong whisper-hissed. He tried to hide his head in his jacket as they walked into the university's grounds but that didn't seem to make much difference. If anything, it attracted more attention. People peered at them as they walked, happy to have found a new source of gossip.
Taeyong spotted Johnny standing at the of the door of their first class and felt physical relief wash over him. He jogged over to him and Johnny's eyes went wide when he noticed who was behind him.
"Did he seriously follow you here?" Johnny asked in disbelief, his finger pointed at Jaehyun without shame. His voice was just above a whisper and held genuine surprise.
"Did you not take my advice at all?"Taeyong sighed, looking around. "I didn't know what to do."
That was a lie. Taeyong had the perfect idea of what to do but he was too scared to do it, so instead he was beginning to accept his misfortune. He had decided in the past few days that Jaehyun wasn't too bad to be around. It was similar to being next to a statue all the time except this one could walk. And could talk. And was handsome.
"Let me talk to him for you," Johnny told him sternly as the students began filing into auditorium. Taeyong smiled as his friend's attempt but it slowly faltered when he saw their interaction. Johnny had walked over to Jaehyun and was talking to him and Taeyong had actually seen a smile.
A smile? A real smile? From Jaehyun? Taeyong had to rub his eyes.
He crossed his arms when he felt a bitter sting in his chest. He decided he no longer felt like watching them converse and turned his backs on them to speedily enter the auditorium. He knew Jaehyun couldn't follow him inside, he would have to wait outside the classroom like the rest of the bodyguards other students had.
It took a few more minutes for Johnny to enter the classroom with a obviously faked, late apology. The professors didn't reprimand him so he strode in and sat beside Taeyong whose body was obviously turned away from him. Johnny seemed to be grinning from ear to ear causing Taeyong's mood to drop further. He didn't know what was wrong with him but he didn't like it.
Taeyong's mood was furthered worsened when the professor announced a group project. Johnny quickly looked over to his best friend with a smile, "Great, so when should I-"
"-And I'll be picking the teams," the female professor interrupted resulting in audible groans. Her voice was high-pitched and whiny and it made Taeyong cringe every time she called out a name. The professor paired them off into groups of two and Johnny was put with some random guy called Ten, to his dismay. As the number of people in the list dwindled, Taeyong scrunched his nose.
"Taeyong and Doyoung!" She finished.
Taeyong groaned loudly, finally turning over to where Johnny sat to complain but his friend had already gone over to his partner.
Taeyong felt a pre-headache coming along. Him and Doyoung didn't exactly get along. His father was also a politician and Doyoung was the picture-perfect, poster child his dad had always compared him to. Doyoung wasn't too fond of their pairing either as he clicked his tongue when Taeyong's name came up with his. Doyoung walked over to him and they sat in a tense, somewhat awkward silence until the class was dismissed.
"I'll text you," Doyoung said, not sparing him a glance as he left. Taeyong felt like this was the shittiest day he had had in awhile and it could all be traced back to one man. Taeyong wanted to scream when he saw Jaehyun's large figure approach him outside the classroom.
"This is all your fault," He grumbled at the him. Jaehyun didn't respond but his eyes had widened the tiniest bit at the smaller boy's sudden complaint.
"Of course you don't answer me... I'm not Johnny," He mumbled the last part to himself. Taeyong wanted to explode from frustration. This was all Jaehyun's fault.
Taeyong dwelled on his idea to get rid of the man for the rest of the school day, not paying any attention to his lectures. When the day was over and Jaehyun drove the home in a silence more tense than the morning's, Taeyong decided he had had enough of dwelling. He needed to take action.
Taeyong figured that the only reason he had a bodyguard was for protection. Why else would he practically need one? If he could protect himself then there'd be no use for Jaehyun and he would be perfectly fine on his own. Maybe his dad would even let him leave the city on his own again without having to 'run away'. It was a far stretch but Taeyong still smiled at that thought.
He stopped in his tracks when they entered the house and faced Jaehyun with determination blazing in his eyes.
"I want you to train me."
