"No, no I'm—I'm fine, Pearl," you said, yawning between your words. She chuckled, patting your cheek before going into Steven's house with Amethyst. You smiled softly, looking up at Steven, who was still falling slowly. "See you later, Steven! Hope you get down soon," you yelled, cupping your mouth so that your voice would carry.
"Thanks," the boy shouted back, waving at you as you made your way down the beach again. You sighed as you entered your home, closing the door softly behind you. It was dead silent inside, all the lights off as well. It had been that way for the past thirteen days since Kehlani and Millie left...not like you were counting or anything though. You hung your purse and keys on the hook by the door, clicking the button on the side of your phone. The screen lit up, slightly hurting your eyes since they had gotten used to the darkness. 11:55 PM. Geez, you think, making your way slowly up the stairs. You had been working long hours for the past week, not really having anything better to do. To be truthful, you really were just trying to take your mind off Jasper. She really was ignoring you with every ounce of her being, and it was starting to irritate you just a little bit. On top of that, she never really came out of her room unless it was to eat. And even then it was only every couple of days which worried you even though you knew gems didn't have to eat. You glanced at the gem's door as you passed it, shaking your head as you sighed quietly. She'll come around eventually, you think, repeating your mom's words to yourself.

The next morning, you woke up to the sound of your eight A.M. alarm. You groaned, feeling for your phone on your nightstand. "I forgot to delete the one for Sundays," you mumbled, sliding the smooth device from your bedside table. You stopped the alarm from making the earsplitting noise that was filling your room, clicking on the app to delete that alarm specifically. Mr. Smiley didn't want you to overwork yourself every day so that's why he banned you from working Sundays at the amusement park. In turn, that meant there was no use for you to keep that alarm. Since I'm already up might as well be productive, you thought, rolling out of the bed. You stretched as you sat up, yawning loudly. Scratching your head, you went into the bathroom, splashing your face with cold water. You sighed, raking your fingers through your hair so that it didn't look as messy as before. You walked out of the bathroom and made your way towards your bedroom door, noticing that Storm wasn't there like she had been last night. "Probably in Jasper's room," you mumbled to yourself, dragging your feet down the stairs. The kitten had been spending a lot more time with the gem up until Jasper would unexpectedly put the feline out of her room. The action confused you greatly, but you never did ask any questions. You then went straight to the fridge, pulling out a container filled with (f/f). You bit into the sweet fruit, humming at the taste. Your bare (s/c-t) feet shuffled across the tiled kitchen floor as you made your way towards the patio, your (e/c) eyes still half-closed. You pushed the screen door open, suddenly tripping over Jasper's thick legs. You gasped, your eyes widening before closing tightly, preparing yourself for the fall—but it didn't come. You opened your eyes slowly, your breathing slightly uneven. Jasper had caught you and your fruit, setting the container on the patio steps. She then let go of you, and your knees crashed against the rigid wood under you, causing you to wince in pain. The gem's back was pressed against the railing, her arms crossed and knees on either side of you. You were between her outstretched legs kneeling on your now bruised knees. "If you wanted me to fall you didn't have to catch me in the first place," you said quietly, averting your (e/c) eyes from her amber ones. You had been doing that a lot lately. Ever since the Fourth of July, you've felt extremely shy around her, not wanting to make eye contact or looking away first if the two of you did. Jasper scoffed, and you looked up at her, noticing that her cheeks were dusted lightly with a scarlet blush. You raised one of your eyebrows gently, following her line of sight before she quickly looked away from you. You blushed as well, pulling the strap up on your white tank top and then folding your arms to cover your chest. You weren't wearing a bra, and the tank top was thin, making it easy to see through it. Jasper bent her right leg up, the sound of her boot scraping against the wood grabbing your attention. She's wearing her uniform again? You wanted to ask her why but you assumed that you weren't going to get an answer. Deciding not to waste your breath, you grabbed your (f/f) again, continuing to eat the cold fruit as you watched Storm chew on and scratch at a stick in the sand. You chuckled softly, about to stick another piece of (f/f) in your mouth, only for Jasper to snatch it as it touched your lips. She rested it on her tongue, curling the muscle back into her mouth as she stood up. You frowned at her, blushing when she glanced down at you. The gem smirked, shapeshifting into a seagull before taking off. You watched her fly away until you could no longer see her. You groaned, putting your head in your hands as your blush increased. I forgot how great she looked in her uniform... You sighed, resting your cheek in your hand as you nibbled your index finger, your core warm. That's also the first smile she's given me in weeks. Storm meowed loudly, pulling you out of your inappropriate thoughts. She began circling you, scratching your back with her blunt claws. You stood up, taking your container with you as you walked back into the house, holding the door open for the kitten. "Did Jasper not feed you," you asked Storm with a chuckle as you closed the fridge. She meowed again, stretching by her bowls as you opened the cabinets to get the cat food.
