"Yeah, he was good friends with Elkins, from what I hear. The two hadn't seen each other in a while though, some sorta argument they had," Bobby replied. I huffed; a fight was often how hunter friendships ended. "They used to hunt vamps together, so if that vamp leader were still alive they probably would go after him next. But you said John wasted that bastard, didn't'cha?"

I nodded slowly, remembering that hunt. One good thing about the Colt being gone again was that I would never have to stare down the barrel of that thing again. "Yeah, I saw it with my own eyes, Bobby. It was like something out of a horror movie." I tucked the phone against my shoulder and fiddled with the hem of my coat. "Clearwater said he knew what happened that night. Kept talking about rumors."

"What kind of rumors?" Bobby questioned. I bit my lip and gripped the phone again, ignoring the nervous sheen of sweat that was building on my skin.

"He said skinwalkers are back in the game," I answered quietly, nerves slipping into my voice. Bobby could tell by my sudden rasp that I was worried. "Apparently a hunter found one of the vamps and she spilled all about my involvement. There's a new name for me out there, too; Clearwater said hunters have been calling me the 'Black Dog'."

I heard Bobby inhale shakily and winced. If he was worried, then I had every right to be. "Bobby, you don't think hunters know about my involvement with the boys, do you? I mean, there might be a chance that the vamp was killed before-"

"I'll be sure to listen for any rumors," Bobby interrupted. "Look, if hunters know you're out there then you need to keep your head down. Don't go looking for trouble, alright? Just head on home and lay low for a while."

I frowned and glared at the gravel beneath my feet. "OK. I'll lay low," I lied. I hated lying to him, but I knew I needed to figure some things out.

If that vampire had told any other hunters that I was affiliated with the Winchesters, we were screwed. It would spell disaster for the brothers and my pack. Everything my pack and I had done to hide away would be for nothing.

I had to stop being so reckless. Someone was going to get hurt sooner or later.

"Y/N? You there?" Bobby asked.

I jumped and readjusted my phone before speaking. "Yeah, I'm here. Just thinking."

"Have you talked to Sam and Dean about this?" he inquired. I winced and pursed my lips in thought.

"No, I haven't. I don't really want to bother them until we get more information," I responded. Bobby swore and I flinched at the sound of his heavy boots stomping across his creaky wood floors.

"Girl, this affects them just as much as it affects you. If you don't tell them soon, I will," he snapped. I winced again and drew my coat tighter around me. "I'll see what I can dig up about these rumors. Don't go doing anything stupid, got it?"

"Bobby-" I started but the phone beeped softly against my ear. He had hung up. I snarled and slammed the phone shut with such ferocity that I worried I had cracked the screen. "Thanks a lot."

I slipped the phone into my coat pocket and groaned in frustration. My fingers dug into my hair and pulled at my roots, thoughts milling around my head. I was beyond worried as each thought spiraled into a darker, more paranoid one; did other skinwalkers know that I existed? How many hunters had heard these rumors about me?

Truthfully, I was scared, although I didn't want to admit that to myself. It felt as though everything was spiraling out of control again. I couldn't control the situation or stop the rumors from spreading. I just had to hope that nothing could be traced back to me or the Winchesters, although deep down I knew that was unlikely. I hated feeling helpless.
