"Plagg?"

He tossed himself back onto the bed and moved the pillows around, throwing his blanket on the floor.

"Plagg!?"

He sat against his headboard, curling into a ball. This can't be happening. Was his kwami a dream?

He scrambled over to his desk, sending some things clattering to the ground in his rush to turn on the computer.

"The first day of school?" He said aloud to himself. He looked at the date again. "The first day of high school. The day I tried to sneak out to go to public school. The day I got Plagg, the day I met ladybug!" He gradually grew more excited and ran into his bathroom to shower and get ready.

He packed his bag, throwing his school supplies he secretly bought into it. He threw the strap over his shoulder and quietly snuck down the hallway and down the stairs. He managed to sneak out through the main door, just barely opening it and squeezing himself through. He grinned as he ran down the steps two at a time and pushed out the gate just enough to slip out. He ran all the way to school. He couldn't wait to meet Nino again! And Marinette and Alya, and everyone else in their class. He was excited to be out of the house.

He was finally in front of the school, and he looked back and saw the car coming down the street. He quickly ran to the steps and ran up a few as the car screeched to a stop. He turned back as Nathalie stepped out of the car, "Adrien please reconsider. You know what your father wants!"

He put his hand to his chest and frowned at her, "this is what I want to do!" He turned back to head up, and he could've gone, it's not like Nathalie or gorilla were reaching out for him to stop him.

He heard a grunt of pain and he turned back, his body immediately moving on instinct to run over and help the old man in the red Hawaiian shirt up. Why was he vaguely familiar? He smiled at the man and turned back to his guards, the smile still on his face.

It fell quickly as he trudged back to them, "I just want to go to school like everybody else. Please don't tell my father about this," and got into the car.

The ride back to the manor was surprisingly long and dreary. "We'll be continuing our lesson from yesterday," Nathalie said and Adrien barely registered it.

The got to the house and Nathalie walked behind him as they made their way into the dining room.

The lonely, empty dining room with a table too long for only him. He sat and got his supplies out, leaning his elbow on the table and his chin in his hand. Nathalie walked out while he set himself up and came back soon after and started rattling off questions to him.

"Who was the first president of the fifth French Republic?"

"Everyone thinks it was De Gualle but it was really René Coty before the first elections." He sighed, looking down at his paper, he knew his father was about to come and he mentally prepared himself for that. He was not ready.

He was never ready to face his father.

He barely registered Nathalie's praise before his father stepped in.

"Give me a moment will you, Nathalie?" He asked, his deep voice monotone as always. Adrien looked up to where his father towered by the doorway. Adrien glanced at Nathalie as she stepped back, bowing her head in acquiescence. He felt betrayed all over again. He stood up, still looking at Nathalie who would not meet his eyes.

"I get it father." He said, his voice barely above a whisper, "I'm never going to public school, yada yada." He frowned and looked down at the table, willing the tears to not fall. "I just wanted to be like everybody else." And with that he stormed out the side door without listening to anything his father had to say.
