"I'm not joining" Neil huffed and stormed out, making Eris's smile falter for only a moment before seeing where he was headed, chasing after his heels in delight.
Neil wasn't prepared to walk into the next room and be smacked in the gut with a racquet by Andrew. He definitely wasn't ready when Eris shoved him in the middle of his back with the butt of the own racquet she was still carrying, sending him toppling to the ground on all fours.
He clutched his stomach and wheezed, trying to catch his breath as Eris erupted in a fit of laughter, grinning over at a manic smile wearing Andrew.
Andrew was Eris's partner in crime.Literally, they often committed various crimes together.
They always were and had been, especially growing up. Seemingly by fate, they kept running into each other, being in the same foster homes on multiple occasions.
That was until Eris was found by her estranged father and brought back to live with him when she was eight.
Even after then, she often kept in contact with Andrew, even going as far as moving to be neighbors with him. Although she never said it aloud, it was all to protect him, make sure he was safe.
Eris knew how awful the foster homes could be first hand.
"God damnit you two. This is why we can't have nice things" Wymack growled but neither Eris nor Andrew seemed to care much.
"Oh Coach, if this is what you think nice things are then we have lowered your standards far more than you let on" Eris said crossing her arms, watching as Neil clawed at the ground, trying to catch his breath after having the wind knocked out of him.
"Give us a break, would you have preferred we let him go? Give him a band-aid, he'll be good as new" Andrew said with a wave of his hand.
Neil's coach, Hernandez, helped him from where he was on the ground as he checked to make sure he was ok.
"Fuck you" Neil spat to the two as Andrew tossed the racquet aside, the wood clattering on the floor.
"Behave you two. Sorry about them, they are a bit raw on manners" Wymack attempted to explain, stepping between Neil and Eris and Andrew, blocking him from the two.
"Lighten up a bit, we were just having some fun, stop being such a stick in the mud" Eris sighed, sitting on the armrest of a nearby chair.
"Your idea of fun is breaking into abandoned houses and seeing who gets caught first, forgive me if not condoning that makes me a stick in the mud" Wymack rolled his eyes.
He wasn't joking, the monsters had actually played that game just a few months ago and had to go to Wymack's apartment while running from the cops.
Eris thought it was one of the most fun and thrilling nights of her life."I'm going home" Neil grunted, standing up straight and grabbing a duffel bag he had dropped.
"Now hang on a minute, I paid to have four people flown out and you won't even give us five minutes?" Wymack asked, Neil froze and the blood drained from his face.
Eris leaned forward and studied him curiously. She knew that expression too well.
Pure and utter fear.
