"This has to be what Harry's under - all of it matches up!" I exclaimed.
"Wait, but what does "compos mentis" mean?" Johnny looked at me.
"Well I know it's Latin for sure - it's a required course at Auradon Prep, that or a History of Magic, which is frankly ironic - but I don't exactly remember coming across those words. I bet it's something to do with the mind." I got up. "Let me grab a copy of the Ancient Latin Dictionary and Common Phrases. I can bet you it isn't signed out."
I was right. Who would go looking for an Ancient Latin Dictionary before school begins?
I set it down on the table and heard a loud crack when I opened it up.
"Is that supposed to happen?" Johnny looked concerned.
"I hope so." Eek. "Okay, so sometimes words mean different things separately and when put together, so I'll check for both. The word "compos" means "in possession of" or "in control of". I flipped through pages to get to 'm'. "And "mentis" is "mind" or "reason". That makes sense - "in control of mind"?"
I went to the "phrases" section of the book. "Oh, it seems to be here as well. I read out what the page said:
ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔭𝔬𝔰 𝔐𝔢𝔫𝔱𝔦𝔰: 𝔞𝔫 𝔢𝔞𝔯𝔩𝔶 17𝔱𝔥-𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔱𝔲𝔯𝔶 𝔏𝔞𝔱𝔦𝔫 𝔭𝔥𝔯𝔞𝔰𝔢 𝔴𝔥𝔦𝔠𝔥 𝔪𝔢𝔞𝔫𝔰 "𝔥𝔞𝔳𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔣𝔲𝔩𝔩 𝔠𝔬𝔫𝔱𝔯𝔬𝔩 𝔬𝔣 𝔬𝔫𝔢'𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔡." 𝔒𝔯 𝔦𝔫 𝔰𝔦𝔪𝔭𝔩𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔪𝔰, 𝔰𝔞𝔫𝔢.

"Well, it's pretty obvious what Horacio was talking about. He must be really old then, huh?" Johnny concluded.
"Wait, who even is Horacio Witrist?" Uma looked at me. As if I'd know.
"Beats me."
"That's something else we need to look into - we have to see if we can trust this guy. Make sure he's not just an old loony." Johnny got up. "I'll see if there's a biography or something on him."
