She landed on one leg, crouching down and springing herself back up to a jump of inhumane heights, stealing a quick glance and wink at me while saying, "-then try this!"
Her body leant forward, her legs high in the air while her arms were stretched out towards the ground as she headed to the floor headfirst.
I watched in slight horror as Annie was about to crash, but the emotion disappeared as soon as bright yellow light engulfed her entire body, staring from the tip of her fingers and travelling all the way to the tip of her toes, followed by a rush of thick smoke covering her. A figure shot through the smoke - a pale gold and white wolf - galloping speedily in front of me.
The wolf glanced back at me with its mouth slightly parted, familiar icy blue eyes meeting my (e/c) ones. I looked at Annie's wolf form in awestruck, amazed by how her fur glistened under the sun and how smooth her muscles moved under the coat of fur.
Transformation.
I ran behind Annie, my heart beating faster and faster as my mind began chanting the same thing over and over again.
I want to do that. I want to transform.
My legs moved faster, the muscles there starting to ache as I pushed my body to speed up, my mind replaying Annie's actions leading up to the transformation and preparing myself to copy it. I leaped, landing on one leg and crouching down, before straightening it and jumping up as high as I could into the air.
My limbs flailed in the air and my tail swung wildly as I desperately tried to balance myself. I forced my upper body to lean forward, sloppily imitating Annie's position of diving headfirst into the ground with my arms stretched out in front of me and my legs high up in the air.
I closed my eyes and screamed in my head.
TURN!
I could feel my body plummeting down, but felt no change at all. Dread forced me to open my eyes right before I crashed heavily onto the ground, tumbling and rolling forward for a good length before stopping. A groan left me as I laid limply on the grass, my whole body aching with pain.
The ground slightly shook as Annie did a 180 and sprinted towards me, turning back into a human at the last second and crouching down beside me.
Her blue eyes were wide with panic. "Are you okay??" She asked immediately, checking my body for any major wounds before helping me sit up.
My face scruched up in pain. "Yeah. I don't think I broke anything." I tested out all my limbs, sighing in relief once I knew they were all okay.
"You didn't break anything, but you're going to be covered in bruises," Annie muttered, brushing of the dirt from my clothes. "C'mon. Let's go back to the house."
I stood up with the help of Annie and began the slow journey back to the main house. Annie was right about the bruising, I could feel them starting to form. However, that thought wasn't the one in my mind as we walked back.
Confusion was now blocking out the worst of the pain. Why couldn't I transform? I've done it before, so why can't I do it again?
After a moment's thought, I decided to try and call the wolf that had been absent ever since I woke up.
Voice? Ziahra?
...
Oi, where are you??
No response.
Where did she go?
"You couldn't transform?" Annie spoke up suddenly.
