Chapter 95: Missing Light

Start from the beginning

"My wolf isn't even responding," I muttered, stomping the next step and crushing the grass below my foot.

My jaw tightened out of annoyance. One would think that after everything I've been through, that damn wolf would stop disappearing and stay by my side like most werewolves'. But no, she still goes off to who knows where. And there's no telling when she's even going to come back.

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts when I noticed there was a small scratch that was swelling with a bit of blood on my arm.

I couldn't transform into a full wolf, so I take it I can't get rid of these ears and tail either.

With my wolf gone, does that mean my powers are as well?

I wanted to put it to the test, letting go off Annie and standing still, hovering a hand over a wound while taking a deep breath in anticipation for the pain.

"Woah, what're you doing?" Annie questioned with a tilt of her head, watching my every movement.

"Just... something."

Just focus on the wound and heal it. I've done this before.

Heal.

Nothing.

Heal. Come on, heal!

I felt nothing.

I gritted my teeth in anger, clenching my hand around the wound, making it sting in pain. But the pain didn't feel the same as the one I felt whenever I healed something.

"Goddamnit!" I spat, ripping my hand away and punching the ground as hard as I could, ignoring Annie's gasp of surprise.

"(Y/N). Stop." Annie's words were short and serious, a hint of the coldness from when we were strangers present.

I tore some grass off out of pure spite, only to regret it afterwards when I realized I had just killed an innocent plant.

The blonde girl crouched down beside me, blue eyes dead serious. "I know you're upset about your wolf. But I'm sure it will return. There's no need to go on a rampage because of it."

"Sorry," I muttered lowly, keeping my eyes fixed on the ground. The anger was slowly dying away as Annie continued to lecture me.

"And it's never happened to me, but when you no longer feel the presence of your wolf, then you will no longer have access to their powers as well."

"Then why do I still have werewolf ears and tail?" I challenged.

Annie was unfazed. "I don't know if you know this (Y/N), but you fell off that cliff in this form, and you've remained in it to this day. Your wolf left you in this form and now you're stuck with it until it returns."

"But this is a part of my wolf's power! You said I didn't have any access to her power!"

"But your wolf has access to you."

"Wh--..." I threw my hands in the air. "That's fucking unfair! How is that even possible??"

"I don't know." Annie looked at me up and down. "But that's what I believe based on what I'm seeing right now."

My eyebrows furrowed; my tail swishing back and forth in agitation. The white fur was stained and dirtied by the fall, wet and riddled with brown patches, but I could care less.

Screw you Ziahra.

My legs ached as I forced myself to stand up, using my tail to keep my balance steady. Surprisingly, it worked. I managed to walk back to the empty chairs placed at the back deck of the house without Annie's help, even though it took longer than usual and that every step buzzed with pain.
