"Aunty Alice says that daddy needs to leave for the night," Annie mentioned, swinging her legs back and forth on the bed.

"Oh, did she?" Christina asked, getting up from her spot to grab clothes to change into.

"Yeah," Annie sighed blissfully. "Because of the wedding tomorrow."

If the young mother's heart was still beating she's sure it would have skipped a beat at her daughter's words. She couldn't stop the smile that came over her face as she changed into a tank top and shorts in the closet.

"That's okay," Carlisle chuckled. He ran his fingers through Annie's curls. "Your uncles have something planned for tonight, so I'll be out of the house with them."

"Better not be any strippers," Christina muttered only for him to hear. He smiled down at her as she walked closer to him. He shook his head before landing a sweet kiss on her forehead.

"Just some hunting on the border of Canada," he whispered back. "What do you girls have planned for tonight?"

Both Christina and Annie smiled and answered, "spa night."

Christina stared at her auburn eyes with sorrow. One mistake set her back by weeks; she had just started to get golden eyes before it happened.

A simple scrapped knee on the trails had cost someone their life. One moment of weakness, and one moment of being unprepared. The young mother didn't think twice before running towards the sweet smell, leaving her half dead elk in the trees. Since she was still a newborn, she was faster than Carlisle and Emmett— and she hated herself for it.

It wasn't until the hiker was dry that she had realized what she done. Carlisle and Emmett has found her cradling the dead body, dry sobbing with regret and sadness. The mother was rocking back and forth, and wouldn't be consoled until hours later.

Christina would refuse to glance into any mirror, or make any sort of eye contact with anyone for days. Everyone had warned her about the guilt of the first kill, at the very beginning of her transition; but they down played it by a great margin. The young mother was struck down with guilt and self-hatred. This was one of the reasons why she never wanted to become a vampire in the first place— the feeling of being out of control didn't suit well for her.

It wasn't until her and Jasper had a heart to heart conversation about his past. He had managed to calm her down enough to go hunting again with him, and go back to being social with everyone.

The guilt still weighed on her mind daily— but she didn't allow it to cripple her anymore. She couldn't afford to.

"Momma."

Christina glanced in the mirror to see Annie shutting off the bath water— bubbles peaking out from over lip of the tub. She laughed gently as she turned around to face her daughter. "Enough bubbles?"

"Never enough," Annie giggled. The young girl stripped down into her bathing suit before dipping her toes into the warm water with a smile.

The door downstairs opened and closed, before a "hello?" was heard.

"Give me a moment," Christina muttered to her daughter before walking downstairs, giving her sister a smile over the railing. "Hello."
