a young girl returns to her hometown after suffering a traumatic experience overseas. only to cross paths with a fluffy alien i...
You bolted up in bed. Drenched in cold sweat, the once baggy pyjamas now clung to your skin like a second layer. The covers were gripped tightly in your hands, and you panted heavily as you glanced around the room anxiously. The doors of your closet slid open, and a sleepy Myui peeked out from its sleeping quarters.
"(y/n)? Are you alright?" It enquired in English. Rays of moonlight illuminated a blueish glow over its white pelt, the creature seemingly glowing in the dim room. It leapt out of the closet and padded over to your bed.
You tried to calm your pounding heart. Shutting your eyes, you inhaled deeply, then breathed out. "Y-Yeah, I'm okay." You smiled meekly, meeting its concerned blue gaze.
"Another bad dream?" Myui tilted its head. You nodded whilst the creature leaped onto your bed, and settled down on your legs. "Shouldn't you tell your parents?"
"I don't want to worry them. I already give them enough trouble..." You exhaled shakily.
The symmetrical red whisker-like lines on its cheeks looked blood red in the lighting, and you gasped. Blood... You shut your eyes again as searing white light flashed through your mind, flashbacks replaying like a broken film.
A gun. Your brother. Tomoyo and you in a corner, sobbing as gunshots rang out in the air. Darkness. The slumping of two bodies. A house burning down. Burning, and burning... The conflagration had consumed peace, along with your sanity.
"And yet, you're still here."
A fluffy paw was placed on top of your hand. You didn't know your hands had been trembling. Myui's ears twitched as it met your eyes, and it nuzzled its head against your hand. Its fur was velvety soft, like snow.
"You've been through so much. So much tragedy... your despair has overwhelmed your body and seeped from your soul. You're scared, aren't you?" It cooed softly, its blue eyes lidded calmly.
"How do you know?" Your eyes widened, stiffening as Myui glanced up at you with soft eyes.
"I always have. I told you before, I can see your spirit. Past your body and soul, and into your spirit. I'm able to touch into the memories and minds of people, too." It smiled gently at you, "Don't you remember, (y/n)? When you heard a voice in your head, during that rainy day?"
"I... thought it was just me." You recalled how you had heard Myui's cry of help, and how you moved over to cradle it, oblivious of your actions throughout. Static had covered your consciousness, and by the time you realised what had happened, you had to run from the hoodlums.
"I knew you would save me even if I did nothing. You're a kind person, after all." Myui's blunt horns pressed against your skin as it leaned into your hand. "Despite all your grief, you're still alive. And I find that very remarkable."
"Sometimes I don't want to be," you admitted, using your free hand to caress its head. Your thumb ran circles in its scalp. The usual mirth in your voice was replaced with desolation. "I can't stop dreaming of the past, even if I don't think about it."
"That's normal, the past is unavoidable. Especially one like yours. That's why you must face your hardships head on, don't run from them." Myui licked your hand affectionately, "Only then will you be able to succeed. And perhaps, one day, you'll be able to finally move on. All good things take time, (y/n). Don't forget that."
You smiled fondly at your fluffy friend. "How did you get so wise? When I first met you, you were always crying and hiding."
Its pink nose twitched in denial. "I've always been like this. What are you talking about?"
You giggled softly and laid back down on bed. Myui rolled the covers over you with a tender expression before wriggling under the layers. It laid beside you, under the sheets, pressed against your arm.
Perhaps Myui was right. Things weren't the best right now, but they will surely get better someday. Your lashes fluttered close as you lulled over those words. Myui's warm body rose in steady rhythms, and you began to drift to sleep once again.
"Sweet dreams, (y/n). Don't forget that there are people who love you."

COMING SOON! WHISPY PEACH: PRIDE ARC.
つづく

A/N
woah!! we finished an arc!! this took me longer than i expected tbh... i could have finished this arc months ago if i hadn't dragged the updates for weeks.. nevertheless, i'm so grateful that there are people who still read my work!
i know things are sort of a slow-burn right now.. but Gluttony was needed to activate (y/n)'s long (awaited) hidden stand, and to showcase the dark nature (y/n) has when forced into a corner. insight as to why she is reluctant to use her stand is mentioned briefly in this bonus chapter, and i believe it has shed some light on her past, and why she left the States.
(what do you think about Whispy Peach? let me know in the comments :D )
i hope you're ready for the next arc! the Pride arc will consist of more episodes than Gluttony's, and Tomoyo will appear more often (for various reasons). a lot of things will happen in it, and the future events are hinted in (y/n)'s letter to her parents. i look forward to fleshing out the next antagonist and their story.
i'll also be writing a special chapter called STAND FILES, which will be located at the end of the book. it'll be filled with information, stats, art of the stand (by me and anyone who does fanart!) and it'll only be updated whenever a new stand is mentioned! it'll be published once i finish formatting it hehe.. please look forward to it ♡
the next arc will be released hopefully next week, as i can't wait to share the latest end chapter art with you cuties.. so stay tuned!
that said, i have one favour to ask of you readers. i'd like to do a Q&A, so please drop all and any questions you have for me and this book! you can ask me anything as long as it is appropriate~ (꒪˙꒳˙꒪ ) i will answer them in the next A/N.
that said, i never thought that i'd be able to reach 20k for my book. another unforgettable milestone! it's really a dream come true to me hehe.. thank you so much for all your support and love, friends!
