CHAPTER FIFTEEN- saving the injured ??

I set the journal down in my lap, "Now you know the rest of the story. Please remember that Alpha Issac was to my knowledge never been told about that prank." I looked and saw several of the young pups were asleep. Many of the adults were smiling.

One of the wolves said, "they could do some of the best practical jokes." Then we turned off the lights and went to sleep.

We were down in the safe house and every now and then one of she wolves would say, "my mate been hurt. I have to get to him," but we could just hold her while she cried.  We had not been given the all clear to leave the room. Thankfully no one in the room felt death.  We kept busy playing with the pups, making meals,  and we made some craft projects.  We were in there for 5 days and were starting to get a little irritated when we heard the door unlocking.  The alpha stuck his head in. He looked tired. He was dirty and covered in dry blood.  Lucinda ran to him. She gave him a hug and kiss. Then he spoke, "the war is over. We have won. If you know your mate was hurt please go to the hospital wing. Meri can you come with me. Everyone else is restricted to the basement until we get the mess cleaned up outside." I looked at my sisters who were holding the girls. They indicated it was ok.  

As I followed Issac down the hall I yelled, "will you slow down. Pregnant lady here." He slowed down to my face and had a serious look on his face, "Issac what is going on?"

"Alpha Lycan Conrad was one of the ones seriously injured on day 4 of the battle. He asked to see you. The doctors don't think he will make it. We could not deny his wish."

I walked in and saw him laying in bed. He had tubes going into him. I looked at the doctor and asked, "Apollo why isn't he healing?"

"Apparently victory was only hours away and the enemy knew it. Someone shot a poison arrow into him. It had wolfsbane, cyanid and mix of some unknown chemicals. The rose plant did not work to treat it.

"I took an online medical science class. Did you try to counteract the toxin, wolfsbane of the same variety must be burned with charcoal and the ashes pressed into the wound. Then give him an IV really fast to help push the poison out as he pees. This should go on for 24 hours. While the IV is in him give him vitamin B-12 shots mixed with enchinacea oil, and milk thistle every 2 hours until the poison shows out of his system.  Then mix apple cider vinegar with activated charcoal and make him ingest it every 4 hours."

(Author note since this is a fantasy book I used a combination of a few items for what could heal Conrad, so don't try any of these recipes at home since they are just made up for a werewolf book.)

The doctors look at her and says, "write that down. Then we will try to gather the products. The hardest will be the wolfbane because there are many types."

Elder alpha looks at Issac, "link the Lycan who are still at Dark Raven's packhouse. Search the house for woofsbane. Tell them make sure they don't touch it but to bring a bag full of it here." Then I link one of the Wilson brothers, "bring one of those metal barrels I ordered to the front of the packhouse. Make sure you clean it out good. Then light a bag of charcoal in it. Issac and I will meet you there as soon as we can.

Meri writes it down, "let me see if I can bring up the web sight and contact the professor for exact amounts. I just don't remember the amounts. I brought up the web sight and the name of the teacher, Hansel Johanna Roush.

Doctor Tony looked at me, "I went to medical school with him. Let me call him."

I hand him the number while the nurse puts an IV in him to start pushing the fluids in him. Alpha Conrad wakes up, "is that Meri I smell? Bring her here."

"Hello, Conrad.  I am here. Was telling the doctor about some meds that can counteract your symptoms. I took a medical class on it. But you have to fight it. You said you want a second chance mate. If you give up then you will leave her wondering. Fight for her."
