Joseph x Reader: DISTRACTING|THE|MAID

"What are you doing you dummy? We have to bandage your finger before it gets infected." Joseph stated as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Yeah I know but I can do it myself." All your might was not enough to escape Joseph's grip, and it was nowhere near his entire strength.

"Stop fussing like a child and let me help you." In one fluid motion Joseph pulled you closer to him and scooped you up, throwing you over his shoulder in the same manner a landscaper would to carry a heavy bag mulch. 

"Hey! Put me down!" You pounded your fists against his back, but he made to effort to release you. 

Joseph carried you to a nearby bathroom, only setting you down to rifle through the closet for a first aid kit. After a bit of searching he pulled one out with a triumphant smile.

"Ta da!" He presented it to you in a proud manner. "Now gimmie your hand."

"I said I-"

"And I said give me your hand." Joseph opened and closed in his hand, waiting for you to do as he said. Realizing you would get nowhere by arguing, you sighed and slammed your injured hand into his palm.

He didn't say anything else, just opened the first aid kit and dug around for the things he needed. You were surprised at how well versed he was with the supplies, knowing exactly what to use to clean the open cut. The burning sensation of your wound being cleaned made you shut your eyes tightly. You tried to cover the pain by biting your tongue.

"I know it stings, I'm sorry." Joseph's tone was soothing, and it made the pain a little more bearable.

You opened one eye after the other, gaze set on Joseph's concentrated face. He looked just like he did earlier when he was practicing Hamon, except this time you could see his tongue poking out slightly as he worked. You wondered if he did that every time he focused on something, and you just couldn't see it before. Either way, it made your heart swell in your chest as you began to pick up on how close he was to you.

Jospeh was just about finished with wrapping a thin, but protective layer of bandage around your finger when you leaned forward. Closing what little space was between you and him, you placed a quick peck on his cheek. His eyes darted over to your face and his cheeks turned a bright red. Joseph was completely frozen in place.

"W-w... Y-you... My cheek... Me... Why?" It looked like his jaw was going to drop to the floor.

You looked to the side, a light shade of embarrassment coming over your own features. "Cause you looked cute I guess," you mumbled through pursed lips.

"Me?! Cute?!" Joseph gasped.

When you returned your gaze to Joseph he was wearing the biggest and dorkiest grin you had every seen. It pulled higher on one side, but the asymmetrical look of it made it all the more sweeter.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to hear those words from you!" He wrapped his arms around your waist and picked you up into a bearhug, swinging your significantly smaller form side to side.

"I'm gonna vomit all over you if you don't put me down."

Jospeh quickly stopped, setting you down on your feet and making sure you were standing strong before releasing his hold on your waist.

"Now Caesar owes me ten bucks," the muscular man snickered.

"I'm sorry?" You raised an accusing eyebrow at him.

"Caesar thought my crush on you was one sided, so I made a bet with him saying that I could get you to fall in love me before we go off to fight the pillar men again and I won!"

"Oh? I don't remember saying I was in love with you, but it's nice to know you have a crush on me." You smiled devilishly. 

"But you just-" You cut him off with a soft kiss, against his lips this time. Before he could take it any further, you pulled away and skipped out of the bathroom.

"What? Kissed you?" You teased. "I should probably go make sure Suzie Q is good with dinner. Let me know when you want to go on our first date, Jojo."

This will probably be the last thing I write for the next few days. I'm going camping over the weekend so I probably won't have service, but also my dad went to the hospital today (for things unrelated to covid, don't worry). From what I know they think there might be an issue with his heart, but it also might just be from stress. He's getting a few tests done on him tomorrow morning, so hopefully we'll know by then and all will be well.
