Us Two And Them

Chapter 3

He came over and showed me what buttons to press. "So you press this button to shoot and this one to run." I nodded. I think I had a hang of things. Roman was gonna help me in anyways cause I was playing against Jordan.

We were halfway through the game the score was 3 for Jordan and one for me. I mean at least I got one goal. I was starting to get into the game and get competitive. Until a knock on the door and Lucas came in. "Dinner! come downstairs, you can finish that after."

Jordan paused the game and we followed Lucas to the family dining room. I was starting to get nervous because I was about to see Angelo and Xander. I was the closest to them other than my twin. But I had to be strong for Roman. I could tell he was getting nervous aswell and I grabbed his hand.

You could hear the chatter of people coming from the dining room. But it went silent when we walked in. Everyone was staring at us. I could see Roman gulp. He literally gulped well I don't blame him. They are very intimidating. Angelo sat at the head of the table and Xander and Xavier sat beside eachother. Lucas took a seat beside Angelo and gestured me to sit infront of him. There was no way I was sitting beside Angelo. But I guess I had no choice. I hesitantly made my way over and sat down.

Jordan sat inbetween me and Roman. Angelo cleared his throat and now all eyes were on him. "Welcome back Harlow and Roman." He said in a cold but soft tone. Soon everyone just began eating. You could only hear people eating and forks scraping the plate. It was an awkward silence.

Lucas broke the silence." So did you guys play any sports on school?" 

Roman was the first to answer "Yeah I played basketball in my old team."

"Well now I finally have someone decent to play 1vs1." Xavier chirped in. Then eyes were on me.

"I use to be on the track team but gave it up over time." Well, I didn't give it up. I had to give it up. With school and work. I just didn't have any time for it so I had to give it up.

"Well maybe you can join the the track team in your new school, I mean you have to join one after school activity so I guess that might be yours." Jordan told me. New school I hadn't even thought of that I would be moving schools.

It went back to silence again Xander hadn't said a word he just ate. Angelo took a sip of his drink before placing it back down again. "I would like to go over some ground rules I have. Everyone else follows these rules so I expect you two aswell."

He took our silence as permission to continue. "Roman your curfew is ten on week days and half past ten on weekends. Harlow your curfew is  half past ten on the weekday and eleven on weekends. Its the same as Jordans it goes up a half hour when you grow up. Next is to respect your elders and us. We don't tolerate direspect at all."

I just rolled my eyes at that. "That means no eye rolling. Moving on, I personally like direct eye contact and verbal answers when I'm talking to you. To say for your brothers I don't know. I don't tolerate alcohol or drugs."  He said that looking directly at me.

Does he know? Of course, he knows he probably saw my file. Shit. Maybe I got caught with possession of drugs before. Twice or maybe three times. But they weren't mine they were for my mom and her "boyfriend". Thats why I got threated with juvie.

"If you want to go out I would like you to let one of your brothers where you are going and get permission off of one of us." Premission to go out haha he is very funny. I'm sorry but I literally raised myself and now I have to ask permission. "Ahaha your very funny Angelo. "Permission" to go out." Using my fingers as quotations. I saw Xander smirk at my reaction. But no one else was smiling maybe Roman was aswell.
