Gone (Sasuke Uchiha x reader)

Chapter five

"Who you guy's parents?"

"You know mine," Boruto said.

"Orochimaru," Mitsuki said. Now that surprised me.

"Sakura is my mom, and you're standing next to my dad," Sarada said.

I nodded. "Figured as much.." I stood up and walked away from Sasuke and stood near Konohomaru. "So you're Orochimaru's kid?"

Mitsuki nodded. "He's talked about you ___. " Now that REALLY surprised me.

"Really? " He simply just nodded. "I guess you don't talk much? It's fine." I said with a smile.

"Here's your next mission," Naruto said. I tuned out what was said after that. I just.. can't believe Sasuke and Sakura had a kid.

"___!" Shikamaru called my name.

"Huh?"

"Are you alright?" Naruto asked.

I simply nodded and walked over to another pile of papers. "Want me to sort this?" I asked as I started looking at the first few papers.

Naruto stood up and took the papers from my hands.

"Is everything okay?' He asked, and looked me in the eyes. Damn those eyes. I bit my lip, and tears threatened to fall from my eyes.

"Why the hell would I be okay?!" I exclaimed. Tears fell freely from my eyes, and I looked down. I could feel my hands start to shake. I took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes again. "F-Fifteen years. I've been gone for so damn long. I've missed so much, the most important parts of my friend's life. I wasn't there. I missed... everything." My voice cracked and I wiped my tear-stained cheeks.

Naruto's eyes widened and Shikamaru stood next to him. Sasuke looked at me. I glanced at him for a brief moment, then looked into Naruto's eyes again.

"All of my friends have gone on and started families and done things with their lives and I wasn't there. Konohomaru grew up without me... and I just found out the man I loved has a whole kid." I took a deep, shaky breath. "How am I supposed to just come back and resume my life? My presence alone will ruin everything you guys have going on, and it hurts so much. Everyone's life has moved forward and gotten better, and I'm STUCK because some asshole thought it would be a good idea to keep me LOCKED AWAY IN A CELL FOR OVER A DECADE. It's only been a day, but I've hurt so much. I realized I've lost and missed so much. Maybe I should've stayed gone, or hell even died! That would've been better for everyone."

After that last statement, everyone looked at me in shock.

"Don't- Don't you DARE say that!" Naruto exclaimed.

"Don't you think this hurts US too? You're my best friend. You were the person I cared about the most in this world, and I lost you. We ALL lost you. You have NO idea how hard it was to move forward with life without you. Every moment, good or bad, I would think of you. Every day without you hurt more than the last." His voice cracked. I could tell he wanted to cry. Seeing him like this broke my heart.

"I've achieved my biggest dream, got married, and had two beautiful children. I should've been happy but it was IMPOSSIBLE because you weren't by my side." I couldn't protect you then, and I've been living with that pain for fifteen years. I've finally got you back and I will do anything, even risk my own life, to make sure you stay by my side! Don't you dare EVER say you'd be better off gone or dead. If you die, a part of me dies too. "

I shook my head. "I think that look on your face proves my point. If I weren't here, you wouldn't be hurting right now, I'm sure I was missed but life went on. I just messed everything up by coming back. "

"Don't say that," Shikamaru said. "Don't... look just stop." Shikamaru shook his head then looked at me. "We all were, and are, hurting. We should just focus on trying to heal. You're back now, that's all that matters."

"NO ONE WOULD BE HURTING RIGHT NOW IF I'VE NEVER COME BACK or just died. Y'all had already moved on so it wouldn't have mattered-" Sasuke pulled me to him and grabbed my chin. He stared into my eyes.

"Let me go Sasuke."

"No."

"Sasuke I said LET GO! SHOULD YOU BE BY YOUR WIFES SIDE INSTEAD OF MINE?" I exclaimed. Tears fell from my eyes again.

Sasuke looked at me sadly and loosened his grip on my chin, but I didn't move. "I don't EVER wanna hear you saying anything like that again," He said in a low, even voice. "Please don't say that. I can't- I can't imagine a life with you being dead. You have no idea how much this hurts me but please don't say that," He said softly.

I heard the door creak open, and I could feel Shikamaru and Naruto staring at us.

"Sasuke I-"

"Every day without you was complete agony. The only thing that kept me going was the hope of seeing you again. If you had died... I don't think I could've continued life."

"Sasuke don't say that," I said.

He pressed his forehead against mine. "If I can't say it then you cant either. We'll get through this."

I tried to swallow down the lump that formed in the back of my throat. "I still love you ___ Konton. Everything will work out in the end.

"S-Sasuke." A voice said. I looked over and seen... it was her.
