Chapter 3: terrifying Child Care

Your nosebleed had stopped but as you carefully shuffled behind the chair, a golden mouse appeared and began to flee, Luigi quickly sucked it up as more money spewed everywhere, including an emerald. "Soo...," you quietly mumbled, "what are we supposed to do?"

You heard another yawn, sounding as if it was coming from the chair in the middle of the room, rocking on its own.  You swallowed the lump in your throat and decided to take a look at the books. You pulled out a red book, with the title "book of riddles" and flicked to a random page.

"Mysteries appear when people turn, but turning away from them solves nothing," you spoke as you read through the riddle carefully, "Instead of turning away, turn to the side and look at the mystery from a different view. A way will surely open." You put the book back carefully.

"Maybe we should both try and turn to the side in front of the chair?" Luigi muttered, you nodded and walked in front of the chair, you and Luigi, at the same time, turned to the side. Close to your arm was a blue glowing aura. The ghost yawned and Luigi turned to stun him, you quickly turned around and turned the poltergust on. Immediately catching the ghosts tail in the vacuum and after a draining experience, he was caught and the lights came on. You went over to the chest and opened it, revealing a key.

"Finally caught her!" You cheered pumping your fist in the air, Luigi chuckled at your behaviour. The Italian plumber walked towards the chest and grabbed the key out of it. You opened the door to renter the small hallway only to hear an ear piercing cry, you and Luigi looked at eachother and chuckled nervously.

"We're in danger," Luigi awkwardly laughed, you cleared your throat and walked towards the door were the noise came from. Luigi then opened the door to reveal a pink room with a few baby pictures, a table, rocking horse and a crib. Luigi slowly walked towards the rocking horse, you looked at the ugly pictures until you heard a voice.

"Horsy...Rocky...horsy."

Luigi stares at the crib, terror in his eyes. You sighed and tapped on the nearby table to get his attention. He looked at you, seeming to calm down. "Rock the horse," you whispered. Luigi gave a small nod and started to shake the wooden horse. You heard cries come from the crib and you carefully speed walked to the rocking horse and helped shake it. Immediately the door became closed off with thorns and a ghost baby appeared.

"Hey wanna play with me?" The ghost asked in a slow voice.

He then pulled out some sort of rattle toy and a teddy bear from a nearby shelf started to levitate. "Duck!" Luigi yelped as he pushed you out of the way, the child laughed as the toy hit Luigi instead. You growled.

Suddenly you noticed the ball on the ground, "no Y/N!" Luigi scolded.

"Luigi, this is the only time for us to commit child abuse!" You yelled as you sucked up the ball, ready to be launched. Luigi sighed and nodded. You immediately aimed and shot the ball at the baby, hitting him square in the face.

"You gave me an owie I just wanted to play with you, I hate grown ups, why do you have to be bigger than me...?" The child wined, "I've had enough!"

You felt the floor shake, Luigi was frozen in fear as the both of you watched the walls crack. "Small! Now grow smaller, itsy! Tiny! Little! Wee!"

There was then a bright light and you immediately shield your eyes, slowly you lowered your arms to see yourself and Luigi in a crib. "W-were are..." you then heard a cry, making you and Luigi yelp in terror, seeing that the ghost baby was now drastically bigger than the both of you. That's when a rocking horse was making its way towards the both of you, you immediately dodged as it sped towards you. Another cane from the left and Luigi dodged it. The spoiled baby seemed to glare at both of you as it shook its rattle and balls started falling into the crib. You and Luigi  dodged them all and there was one still in the crib. As the child has a tantrum, Luigi sucked up the ball and popped it into the baby's face. You then got into action as you started sucking the child up (sounds so wrong) however he escaped he cried in frustration and caused an earthquake with his body. He then whipped out his rattle as a rocking horse came from the left, more faster than the other two. Luigi quickly dodged it and one the cane from the right. However, you weren't as lucky and you leg got hit in the process of dodging, making you fall to the ground, wincing in pain.

"Y-Y/N...!" Luigi cried, you coughed as you rose your head to look at him.

"Luigi, just end this fight!" You yelled, panting heavily you felt something trickle down your leg, you lifted your pant leg up seeing a cut, blood slowly coming out, Luigi then had a determined look as he dodged the balls and immediately shot the child in the face with one. He quickly used up his strength and caught the ghost.

Then everything went dark.

Not long after you opened your eyes to find yourself back in the nursery, lying on the ground. you leg didn't hurt anymore, and when you checked it there wasn't any damage. Luigi quickly stumbled to his knees and embraced you into a hug. "Thank goodness your safe Y/N!" He murmured, "I thought I lost you!"

You were lost for words as the Italian plumber started to sob. You rubbed his back, in a comforting manner, as his tears stained your hoodie. "Shhh, it's ok, hey Luigi," you whispered, he looked at you, his blue eyes cloudy with tears, "I'm still here with you, and I'll never leave you, ok?"

Luigi nodded and gave you a small smile, you carefully stud up and offered Luigi your hand, he took it as you lifted him up. The both of you looked at the chest, You opened it and saw a heart shaped key. You put it in your pocket and heavily sighed, "let's go back to the lab."
