Chapter 6: playing music together

"I see that your Mario lives... well he's not in the spirit world but one cannot say he's alive... sorry hmm where is he? Ah the spirits fall silent..."

"Is that all?" You muttered.

"This is all I can show you for now, bring me another dropped item and we will see the whereabouts of Mario." The fortune teller then disappeared.

"So you said that the room was just dark? Nothing in it?" You asked Luigi, he let out a small sigh.

"Well, there was only mice, ghost mice of course," he said, "maybe we missed something how that hall?"

Just as he said that a candelabra was floating back and forth, "yeah, we missed something, come on." You grabbed Luigi's hand and went towards the candelabra. It wasn't lit.

"Should we lite it?" Luigi muttered you slowly nodded and carefully flipped the switch on the vacuum to use the fire, as you still had some left over. You lit the candles and a butler ghost appeared.

"Ahhh! Fire! Fire! Run away, run way!" The butler yelled as he took off, you then quickly followed, Luigi right behind. He then left for the laundry room.

After following the butler, he was now in the butler's room, of course. You opened the door slowly and Luigi carefully made his way into the room, you closing the door behind, the butler then sat down and tried to extinguish the flames with his...butt?

Luigi then flashed him and the ghost let out a huge scream, could've been enough to cause the whole mansion to fall into pieces. You then joined in on the catch and caught him. The lights came on and a chest appeared, of course containing a key. Luigi then decided to catch one of the fire ghosts that appeared from a small candle in the room. "Would we need the fire?"

"I'm taking it just in case," Luigi stated as he sucked the elemental ghost up and he tried the fire element, flipping the switch and using the blow option, releasing orange flames. "Now what?" You then looked at the mouse hole, seeing tiny sparkles from within.

"There's something behind this wall!" Luigi's head turned towards the hole in the wall and looked in with his GB, searching it, and causing him to be sucked in. "Luigi!"

"I'm fine Y/N!" Luigi called from the other side, "use your Gameboy to come in, you did as he said and searched the hole, causing you to also be sucked in and spat out into a golden room with many chests and trophies sat on shelves.

"Wow." Was all you could mumble, Luigi then let out the burning flames out of his vacuum on the yellow bats that hung from the ceiling, their pitiful cries rang through the room as they were burned, "did you have any reason to do that?"

"Well there ghosts, any any ghosts are bad." You let a small 'true' escape your lips as you went over to a chest on one of the shelves, a white-pink puncher then appeared, it's heart was covered in ice, you luckily ducked and dodged a punch but it was coming back for more. You then took the chance and quickly flipped the switch on the vacuum and shot the purple flames out of the vacuum. The ghost screeched in pain as it burned, you then switched modes again and flashed the ghost, and captured it.

You and Luigi then took out the rest of the ghosts, opening the chest that contained money and used the Gameboy to exit the secret room, "were does the key that we got lead to again?"

You checked the GB, "uh...the conservatory?" You and Luigi then made your way towards the next room, which was filled with instruments. "What a sight!" You giggled, you loved music and you could play a few instruments.

"There's a piano!" Luigi yelled in excitement, you looked at him a bit confused.

"Do you play the piano?"

Luigi then rubbed the back of his neck, "well I don't put i've always wanted to, I can only play the violin..."

You then chuckled, "well I know how to play it, but I sense that there's someone in here, playing the piano already." You pulled your Gameboy out to see a female ghost with silky blond hair playing the piano, however you couldn't hear the notes make any noise.

"These two can play music? Ha! I bet they can't!" You heard the ghost scoff. Rude.

"Let's show her then!" You challenged the pianist, she just smirked as Luigi looked at you in alarm.

"But I can only play the violin Y/N!"

"We can at least try," you calmly said as you looked at the three drums and tapped the middle one, and it started to play on its own. You then tapped the other drums.

Luigi then smiled as he tapped the xylophone, you then plucked the strings of the harp, and Luigi plucked the strings on the cello and blew into the saxophone. And all the instruments started playing the super Mario bros theme.

That's when the pianist then appeared as she was playing the piano, however it was actually heard this time. "My name is melody, people call me the spectral beauty of the ivory keys!" Melody then turned towards both of you, "what a stirring performance! I haven't been so charmed by a piece in ages!"

"Ummm thanks?" Luigi mumbled in a questioning tone.

"You must have a delicate ear for music. Would you like to listen to my piano sonata?" You opened your mouth to respond however the woman turned to face the keys of the piano, "well here I go!"

"By the way... that song was featured in a famous game. Do you know which one?"

"F-famous game?" Luigi looked at you in confusion, "what is she talking about...a game?"

"Oh I know what she means, it will take too long to explain though," you said, "that song was from super Mario bros. 3"

Melody then laughed, "exactly right! You got it!" You then smiled awkwardly as Luigi stared at you dumbfounded, "Very impressive! I guess I needn't hold back with you, would you care to battle with my lovely music sheet?"

Melody then played the piano, or more like smashing the key's, to make the room erupt with very dramatic music, and the music sheets then came flying towards you and Luigi, both of you quickly dodged and you quickly ran to the back of the room and sucked up a few of the sheets, you then saw some of the music flapping around Luigi, as he was trapped and had to keep his head low otherwise, he would be hit with a weak piece of paper, which may feel like a brick since this is all ghostly. You then switched to the element and burned the sheets.

"How dare you!"
Melody screeched only to then summon more sheets, however thanks to the poltergust, they were all sucked up and Melody started to worry.

Before she could do anything else, Luigi quickly stunned the pianist and drained her health before she was captured and the room lit up.

"Well that was dramatic," you mumbled. Luigi gave a small nod in agreement before a chest appeared next to the many instruments.
